Talking Help buying a 20+ inch lcd

Just out shopping to replace my 19" CRT and I'm looking for some advice in purchasing a 20" - 24" LCD. I've taken a look at the Apple cinema displays and they seem pricey, and they don't seem to be able to adjust their height but they are so sexy. Are there any other manufacturers I should look at? Anyone with good experiences in non-apple products? What about Dell? I've heard good things but.... dood... it's a dell.

I cant say enough good things about my Dell 2001FP LCD. 20.1 inches with a 16ms response time. No ghosting in any games I have ever played on it (a lot) and the height is adjustable.

I am no fan of Dell's computers but I love their monitors. I have 3

From what I've heard, NECs are pretty good.

I second the 2001FP... best monitor I've ever owned. No ghosting at all and I play a lot of games.

are your guys dells absolutely perfect in terms of backlight bleeding or do you have guys have some?

I just got the new Samsung 204b. 20.1" with a 5ms response time. It is fabulous but I have a slight backlight bleeding on the bottom and left hand side of the screen which is kinda annoying on black backgrounds.

Well, I have my 2001fp from a year or more, and sometimes I saw that backlight especially in black blackgrounds, but ir is when entering to a game or something like that. So, only a part of a second is not that bad. I would like to have a real black backgorund like when it is off, and not gray, but well your not always seeing black.

yea same here. Black is more like dark gray. When the monitor is off its pure black. When watching movies or loading games with dark backgrounds is when I see the backlight shining through. Kinda ugly and distracting, especially in dark games like fear and doom 3.

I've never noticed backlight bleeding when playing Quake 4 or Far Cry but then I have one of the first 20" Dell FPs.
Damn thing weighs about as much as a 20" CRT.

Here's my vote for the Philips 200W6 20.1" 8ms monitor. Great flexibility with the stand and of course, Philips legendary display quality.

I can't speak highly enough about the Dell 2405. In terms of adjustability, it's so flexible it could audition for a place in the Kirov Ballet. The black could be a bit darker at times, but its usually dark in my room so it doesn't matter so much.

All that screen real estate. Just got to work out what is worthy of filling it...!
