I'm looking to get a decent printer, a TV, and a DVD/VCR combo unit sometime in the several months. I just need something to watch movies on other than my computers when I get married and I need a printer that's cheap and can print text and the occasional color graph decently. Other stuff I need...well, that's what the gift registry is for. I don't think I can coax someone into buying us a 27" TV.

just bought a set of these yesterday, very expensive, but they should last me 5-10 years, as opposed to the year or so i might get out of some cordura bags.

Re: AMDMB Members' Recently Purchased Items Thread

My freelance work has been going well as of late. That, combined with the selling of some old parts have allowed me to make the following purchases:

    7800GT
    Zalman VF700-Cu
    3800+ X2

I didn't need the 7800GT, as I had a highly-overclocked X800GTO2 but someone locally was selling one for $225 (!) so I couldn't pass that up. I was going to buy a VF700 anyway for my X800GTO2, so it went on the 7800GT instead.

I'm really excited about the X2. I'm one of about 8 people on this board who can actually take advantage of an X2 but I didn't have the money for one when I upgraded to S939. Now that I do I found a used one off a forum that is supposed to do 2.5ghz @ stock, and 2.7ghz @ 1.47v (actual). It should be comming in either tomorrow or tuesday.

    EDIT: 1500!

Re: AMDMB Members' Recently Purchased Items Thread

2 years ago I bought a brand new VW Touareg. It was officially retired last week. In the 2 years it had 43 seperate warranty problems and had over $11k in warranty work.....and wasn't fixed. LEMON in every sense of the word. Been in shop over 70 days! I negotiated with VW and they bought it back. After a complicated series of negotiations.
It started when, after one more frustrating trip to dealer, my wife emailed me at work:
"Why do keep trying to get them to fix it? Why don't you just make them buy it back. Then you can get a Porsche like you always wanted. You should do it before one of us retires."

I now am an ardent believer in the power of prayer and suggestion!

Bottom line? I went to my original salesman and he assisted me. VW would never assist me in buying a Porsche so I would have had to get a lawyer to make them do the Lemon Law. Instead, they did a "trade assist" (read cash) so I could buy an '05 Touareg. I proptly traded my old one in on the '05 and promptly traded it in on an '05 (brand new but nicely marked down) Porsche Boxster. It was the shortest ownership period I had ever had with a vehicle. Never even had a chance to get buyers remorse! Hell, I never even saw the car! I didn't loose a penny on the deal which is unusual. You buy a car and trade it in, there is always a markdown. The dealership got what they wanted, I got what I wanted and everyone was happy.

And, boy oh boy and am I happy!

I just ordered the Hyundai. From what I could see of the reviews over at Newegg it looks to be a nice monitor. I got it from ZipZoom though as they are cheaper and offer FedEx 2 day shipping instead of UPS.
