From the reviews I've read, the Viera 50PZ800U is solid in its own right. How does SD content look? I still watch quite a bit of cable TV, so SD output is a factor.

No complaints. My kids VCR tapes and some of their DVD's look like crap but they could care less but when the wife and I watch a Blu-ray or upconverted DVD from the PS3 their great.

Ordered it from Vann's. $1999, including a stand. Since Pioneer is out of the TV business for now, they are getting hard to find. Original list was $4k.

Motorola SURFboard eXtreme Broadband Cable Mode Model SB6120. Works like a champ. Got it thru Best Buy.
More online speed. My provider supports DOCSIS 3.0 so now a good time to get a modem for it.

    I bought a laptop: Packard Bell ML61 (AMD RS780, RM70 2GHz, 4GB, 2x 320GB HD, ATI HD3470). It was cheap.
That second HD is a nice feature. When prices drop I'll replace one with a SSD (My Intel X25m probably).

    I did a double whammy

    a 73" Mitsubishi DLP, and a LG 50" Plasma

Then I had to go to Verison for a couple of HD converter boxes, but I am finally there

My old CRT RCA 32" is going to the guest bedroom, it is about 15 years old and still is a good set....but...

I think you're going to enjoy the 73" DLP. Must look absolutely huge to you When I replaced my 55" Sony with a Samsung 61" LED DLP (last of it's kind) I know it felt like a big increase. Theater at Home - that's what it's all about

Last week I picked up the Onkyo HT-RC160 AV receiver for $340 with a free iPod Dock.

This was an upgrade from my Onkyo TX-SR505 which doesn't support the new BD audio formats and is limited to video only HDMI switching.

    I also ordered a 2-pack of 3 foot HDMI 1.3b cables at meritline.com for $7.99 shipped.

Kind of a shock going from 32" to 73" really

The 50" Plasma was as big as we could fit on top of the corner fireplace
