Urgent!!! Cpu is stuck to heatsink after use of AS5!!

Hey guys,
I am transferring my cpu from my shuttle to a new rig and in the process of removing the ICE heatsink, the heatsink came off with the cpu attached. When I had someone else apply the AS5, they spread it over the whole heatspreader and now it is stuck like glue. How do I remove it? Any input is extremely appreciated.

lol. I've had that happen a few times before, though mostly with S478 chips. Try grabbing the edges of the chip and twisting back and forth and sliding it around. Eventually you should be able to get some air in between and it will come loose. Alternatively, you could just get a razor blade and pry it up. The only harm you could do is possibly scratch the base of the ICE.

you could try running the pc and using some cpu intensive app to heat things up, then shut down and hopefully the heat will ease things up enough to more easily remove the heatsink.

I use that method and 95% of the time it works as planned.

Only that doesn't work once its out and in your hand stuck to the HSF.

Cool. Thanks for all the information. I used the twist method and the cpu came off after a minute. I did bend a few pins but I unbent them no problem.
