Okay I have a BFG 6800GT 256MB AGP card and it idles at 56 degrees and I have seen it go up to 81 degrees in games but it tends to stay around the high 60s low 70s. I was playing CSS once with all high settings and HDR on and apparently it got so hot I BSOD. The 2 PCI slots below it are empty and I took off the case side and left it open to see if it was airflow in the case. Turns out it is the same temperature so the case is fine.
Do I need to buy a cooler for it? Would it get alot cooler if I got a PCI cooler exhaust? If so recommend one please.
Do I need to get a replacement cooling system for it like one of these? Which is the best and easiest to install.
I think I would rather get a PCI cooler exhaust because I dont want to risk messing anything up by installing one of those. If I have to get one though I guess I will. I dont plan on overclocking the video card so I just need it to be a little cooler so it wont cause a crash like it did that one time. Are these temperatures okay and at what point does the temperature becoming damaging. Another thing is I find it funny the core slowdown threshold is 120 degrees yet when it gets no where near that high it acts strange. Thanks for any help.
