New memory help...

Ok, right now I am running dual channel corsair VS 2x512mb pc3200 ddr400 RAM. I want to increase my RAM to 2gb by adding another set of the same memory, since my BIOSTAR Tforce6100 mobo has 4 DIMM slots. Will this run ok? Will I have to slow down the RAM?

If you are manually setting the RAM up to peak performance, you will probably have to slow your timings down a hair. If you have it set to auto, it will do it automatically for you. Hope that helps.

Four sticks will very likely run at DDR333 rather than DDR400. A pair of one gig sticks has a better chance of staying at DDR400 but either way, you'll probably have to run at 2T.

What performance loss will I see on BF2 (The reason I might move up)? Will there even be a gain from using 2gb of RAM at a slower speed than using 1gb on a faster speed and some more page file?

It isn't likely to make any difference that you will actually see or feel during game play. It might show up in benchmarks, however.

Ok, so the upgrade is worth the extra ~80 bucks?

Given that memory at any speed is still a whole lot faster than paging to disk, perhaps getting another pair of 512 meg sticks is a better idea.

On the other hand, getting a pair of 1 gig sticks would allow you to sell the two 512 meg sticks, thus reducing the cost.

My personal choice would be to get a pair of 1 gig sticks. That's what I do with my rigs and it generally works out better in the long run for me.

I have no idea. I know that a pair of 512 meg sticks can be had for $100 USD or less, so let that be a guide.

Personally, I don't buy or use fancy sticks with tight timing. I have been using Kingston Value Ram in my rigs for many years without any problems at all. Below are the specific sticks that I use.

No, I'm sorry, I haven't used any of those. When it comes to making recommendations, I always encourage people to refer to the motherboard manufacturer's website. Many if not most of them have memory compatability lists, sticks that they have tested for the board and found compatable.

I checked, they are all compatible... I'm probably going to go with the OCZ.
