Where does the X1600 fall in this category? I don't know that much about them yet.

"List of order"? Newest to older? Anyone?
A little better than a 6600GT, since it only has 128 bit memory. If you can afford it, a 6800 series card is going to be your best bet...Originally Posted by Niner

But unless you really need the card now, I would wait a few months untill the next nVidia cards are released so you will gat a price drop on the current series of cards.

3dfxrain, I did watch ebay for X850XT, they all go over $200 even before 3 days before closing!
So, best AGP8X for under $200 would be 6600GT?
Chuck
best bet is to check the forums for people upgrading get a better deal then ebay I bought my x800 pro with Arctic Silencer unlocked to 16 pipes for $165 on another forum

If not, this card may be unlockable to equal a X850XT, and if not can be OCed and will smoke a 6600GT.

call waiting was referred to a line outside of a phone booth
flat screen was something put in window to keep inserts out
airbag was someone who talked too much
spam was found only in the kitchen
cell phone was what used to make the one call from jail
pierced ears was from going to loud concerts
high-speed access was an on-ramp to the freeway
I ordered that same card from newegg awhile back when I still had an AGP system and got Sapphire's shorter blue PCB model instead of the bigger red one pictured so you never know. I've owned the AOpen 6600GT 128MB AGP card as well and compared to the X800GTO, it's a no contest. Your probably best off with the X800GTO series but if it has to come down to the 6600GT or the X1600PRO, then have a look below....Originally Posted by CNT
I'm not here to tell you which card to get but just to provide some quick facts ;
6600GT AGP vs X1600PRO AGP
GDDR3 (6600GT) vs GDDR2 (X1600PRO)
8 PixelPipelines (6600GT) vs 12 PixelPipelines (X1600PRO)
500MHZ Core (6600GT) vs 500MHZ Core (X1600PRO)
900-1000MHZ Memory (6600GT) vs 800-900MHZ Memory (X1600PRO)
128bit Memory (6600GT) vs 128bit Memory (X1600PRO)
HDTV/ViVO : YES/NO (6600GT) vs YES/NO (X1600PRO)
Fact is ; Both cards are simular in performance and price and you really cant go wrong with either one! Both can be had for well under $200 US as well. The only real choice to be had with these cards is whether you want a 128MB memory model or a 256MB or higher AGP model. I think only the X1600PRO series can be had in a 512MB memory model in AGP. Also, either 128MB model can be had for the same price while the 256MB model for the 6600GT is a bit higher compared to the X1600PRO
Have a look :
Recommended 6600GT : eVGA 128-A8-N350 Geforce 6600GT 128MB GDDR3 AGP 4X/8X Video Card - Retail @ $139 + $3 S&H with a $20 MIR
Recommended X1600PRO : SAPPHIRE 100158 Radeon X1600PRO 512MB GDDR2 AGP 4X/8X Video Card - OEM @ $139 + $5 S&H
Ultimately, it's up to you and your taste as you really can't go wrong with either card. Unfortunately, neither series has ViVO as far as I know.

MSI NX6600 is not a GT...
refurbished... $98, but I don't want to risk not getting the cables...
Both aren't even VIVO...
My Ti4200 is still displaying well, so it gives me time to browse. Maybe I should start watching the Trading Post thread.
I am still swinging b/f between the GF6*00 and X8*0XT. I am still looking for VIVO, a lot video cards do not have those. I know ATi "AnW" is a VIVO, but I am not looking into video editing with the video card (I have a PCI Pinnacle Studio for that). I just want to capture a live video with a second 14" monitor, while I am working on the main monitor. I should be looking into a low-end VIVO since I am not even a gamer (I don't need to play fast with Yahoo! Chess, LOL). Just thought to get at least (hardware) DX9, etc... I play around with newegg advanced search.
