Amdturbo, do you have your cpu overclocked and ram timings as low as they can go?

My RAM is 2x512mb Geil Value ram (PC3200) and 2x512mb Patriot Select (PC3200)
From what Im slowly learning RAM can be as important as CPU when it comes to better FPS......hmmm

Well, try overclocking u'r cpu first. Go into bios and lower htt to x3 instead of x4. then check what u'r cpu multiplier is ie 8x 200fsb, I don't no what u'r stock cpu speed is 1600 or 1800mhz? download everest home edition, free. basic overclock takes about 10 or 20 minutes. everest or cpuz will tell u what u'r ram timings are and everest will tell u temps, cpu speed, gpu speed all kinds of stuff. Anyway if u want to do a mild overclock just ask.
Ram, even my crappy mismatched samsung stock timings 3 4 4 8 @2T lower to 2.5 3 3 7 @ 1T. But first get u'r cpu up.

My CPU is 1.8.......so just lower HTT to x3?Originally Posted by peski
CPU Mulitplier is at 166 IIRC

yup, lower to x3. get everest first. it seems like your ram is forcing your cpu fsb to 166 and ram fsb to 166. your stock cpu is 200fsb and stock ram is 200fsb.
ok, ht ratio is at x3. i,m assuming that with 4 sticks of ram u'r ram fsb has been forced to 166 instead of 200. the question is for u to get 1.8ghz does bios read 9x 200 or 11x 166fsb?

I set my RAM down to 333MHz (instead of 400MHz), to keep the CPU/RAM ratio 1:1. That's the best way to do it. BTW, I am getting a 6600GT (brand new) this week.Originally Posted by AMDTurbo

yes thats right amd like to be 1:1. But what turbo is telling me sounds like ram is @166 or 333 both the same. so if the ram is out of sync amd seems to run crappy. before u go further understand how to clear cmos on u'r mobo, its not hard u'r manual will show it, just incase u need to. The cpu is at 9x200, u can lower u'r multi to 8 and increas 200 to 240 wich will get u 1920mhz and it will prob bring u'r ram to 200 or use the 9x and raise the 200 5mhz at a time, if at any time u go to far and no post, u just clear u'r cmos and reset bios. when u raise your cpu fsb that will raise u'r ram fsb also, the idea is to raise (inbios)the cpu fsb until u'r ram fsb hits 199 or 200. download cpuz or everest and experiment until u get the hang of it.
CNT, I had an xp2700 fsb333 but it was ran at 400:400 and it gave 2.2ghz.

I will have to try it on the weekend, IIRC I think I tried overclocking it to 8x240...my CPU or probably RAM didn't like it too much.

If u'r ram is 400, lower it to 333 and then use 8x240. Maybe give ram 2.6 volts. U should be able to squeeze some extra mhz out of that cpu. Maybe lower ram to 333 and try 9x 240. For info u'r comp post at start up will show ram @333 but cpuz or everest will show the true ram fsb, it shows it as 166 or 200 or 175 or 1xx. To clear things for u if value ram is 400 then if u raise u'r cpu above 200 the ram also increases and will cause errors or not post, so thats why ram should be lowered to 166 333.
