    Amd Fx-57

How would those of you that read this rate the overclockability of the AMD FX-57 based on a DFI Landparty nF4 SLi-D Mainboard. Has anyone overclocked the FX-57?

My understanding is that they are very poor overclockers, because they are already near the limit of that core. Opteron seems to be the way to go.

Yeah if u want a singlecore just go for an Opteron 144, 146 or 148 and save yourself a lot of money. Those Opterons use the same core as the FX-57 and should overclock to the same speed and often beyond with stock voltage.

Or you could go for a dualcore Opteron 165 or 170 for still a lot less money then a FX-57 .

what socket are the opterons? 939? i thought they were 754. If they are 754 then i need to start looking for other motherboards too because the dfi model im looking at is a 939.

Opteron's come in both the 939 and 940 packages only. No 754's

The 940's are the server style that require Registerred memory to work. The 939's are what mainstream market are using

you can check my specs - I oc this FX 60 223x13=2900 - rock solid, no change in voltage and temps run 35-43C idle to load.

I have a FX55 on the other desktop using a ASUS A8V Deluxe and it cannot duplicate this DFI MB - best MB I have had.

From what I have read the DFI can oc the chip at 3.0 without breaking a sweat.

    What's a DFI Landparty?

But in all seriousness, a DFI Lanparty nF4 Ultra-D overclocks quite well with an Opteron 165 (stock 1.8 ghz, my OC = 2.52 ghz at temps never rising above 40 degrees C with stock cooling).
