    Re: Recent Purchases

Hardcover copy of Generation Kill, in used "very good" condition $0.12 + $3.99 shipping. Re-watched the mini-series the other day and was inspired to get the book. $4.11 for the hardcover seems pretty good.

Intel Gigabit CT PCI-E Network Adapter EXPI9301CTBLK - $30 on amazon. Needed another NIC for my HTPC. I have 2 of these in circulation right now, 1 in my WHS and the other was in my HTPC because the integrated NIC sucks rocks. Unfortunately I had to swap that one to my main rig when that mobo went totally squirrely.

I only go to Newegg now to look at pictures of an item. It's been quite some time since I have actually purchased something from them. Amazon is my go to now as well.

I picked up the old version of Corsair's H60. It's a damn good unit and I got it for $35 at Best Buy on clearance. Time to OC a little more!

I recently purchased a new rig entailed below are all the deets

    Corsair 200R Compact Case

    G.SKILL 8GB Rip Jaw 2 pack

    AMD A10-5800K 3.8 GHz

    WD Red 1 TB (2)

    Gigabyte GA-F2A85XM-D3H AMD Socket FM2 A85X

The C drive is a basic Seagate 500gb 7200 rpm lappy drive

Its running windows 8 Pro, Media server, and a few bits'n bobs of misc software.

Over all money well spent. Runs quiet.... too quiet only indication of it being on is the random HD led flickering.

So, literally as I was typing this, the backlight on the bad monitor started flicker and going darker by the second after I just noticed it was maybe 20% darker today. Thankfully, I had an old spare sitting around and was able to swap out the power and DVI. The spare though is only a 20-incher and doesn't match the other one so it's driving my OCD crazy.

Hmmm, my brand new Asus IPS monitor is starting to do weird things. Over the past few times I've been on my computer, the screen does a strange flickering sort of thing. I really hope this thing isn't a lemon!

Just picked up a Celeron G1610 for $37 Shipped at Super Biiz. It'll either go into an update of my server, or, more likely, get worked into an HTPC of some sort

I had a nightmare recently. My monitor was gone. In the nightmare I was upset that it was missing. I woke up and realized it was nightmare when I found my monitor. I am satisfied it's still there.

I read "My mother was gone" when I looked first. I went back and re-read the post and it makes exactly as much sense either way.

lol As nightmare goes it's not as bad as a monitor failing and annoying me in real life. One of them did go bad for me a long time ago, seems 10 years ago or more.
