I also just received my QcK from the 1saleaday.com steelseries sale. It'll be interesting to compare the cloth to the hard pad. In all likelihood the the cloth will become my "travel" mousepad since it can be rolled up
got my Diablo WitchDoctor today also. Gonna compare to my regular ss pad.

its alright. I prefer my 4HD a lot. The QcK has more friction, but I can see how some people might prefer that since it might give better accuracy. I've always liked my mousepad to be be very quick, with the textured surface, so the 4HD fits the bill perfectly

Doing some CPU swap/upgrades in my kid's PCs. I was just thinking that Phenom II CPUs seem to be getting a bit scarce and since all 3 of my PCs are socket AM3 I should maybe take advantage of a good deal at Newegg while I can still buy one.

I think Buu will get the new 960T (with possible unlock to X6) and my daughter's PC will upgrade from an Athlon II X2 to Buu's current Phenom II X3. I'm hoping the L3 cache and an extra core might help SIMS 3 because that game seems coded like crap (load & save times are atrocious, for example). She might need a video card upgrade in the future as well. The 9600 GSO is a good card despite it's age but I'm sure it's a frame rate bottleneck.

I made out well with the 960T. It's an X4 @ 3.0 out the box. It unlocked easily to an X6 and overclocked to 3.6 (just like my X6 1055T Thuban) at default Vcore. They call the unlocked 960T's a 1600T so that's what Buu has now. I'm still Priming to find the fastest memory timings because I stupidly forgot to check the current BIOS settings before flashing to the latest BIOS but it seems stable so far. Not bad for $100.

    Re: Recent Purchases

Well I have double ordered an FX 4170. I had one on order from my local shop, but their distributors have been out (Though one claims to have 2000 on order with a unknown ship date) and I just ordered one from the Egg. They had it for $140 and a promo lowered that to $130. I think I'll get both and have an excuse to buy another board.

I Have bought a bunch of Flight Sim X software, Accelerator, and a ton of add-ons. Some "parlor" games like poker and puzzles. MS Office 2010 for Home and Business (2 PC's), two different Logitec joysticks.

I also bought a Gigabyte FXA 990FX UD7 MB, a Crucial 256 SSD, a WD Black 1 Terabyte HD, Samsung Bluray reader / DVD Writer, 2 X 8 Gig DDR3 Ballistix, Win 7 Ultimate (64), XFX Black 7970, Coolermaster 1200W PSU, and a Coolermaster HAF 932 case to put it all in.

I went with the 4170 as it seems to be the fastest before OC'ing CPU and if I have to suck it up and stay at posted speed limits.... at least it'll be a higher limit.

Panda, why did you choose the FX-4170 over a fast Phenom II ? Just wanted to give Bulldozer a try ?

The FX 4170 is 4.2 out of the box where the 980 is at 3.7, certainly there is overclocking but normally I think a faster part in the first place is better. The 980 was $150 without a cooler and the FX 4170 was $140 ($130 with the promo code, I don't think the 980 had one.)

I think the Phenom II's are faster for gaming at the same clock speed so a 4+ Ghz FX is probably going to perform similar to a PII anyway. Nevertheless I'm sure the FX will be a fine CPU offering more than enough power to drive your games. That's actually the reason I've never had to stray from AMD - the CPUs are plenty fast enough for my needs.
