Mr. Fancy up there with his Grey Goose and his GTX 680. I guess the Caviar was on backorder?

I picked up one of these:

either this or the K90 is going to work to type on. I think the reds have too low activation force, leading to errant keypresses so I'd like to see how the blacks do with the same linear progression but higher required force. Either way I really like the reds to type on so I assume the blacks will be similar, so i'll have a nice keyboard to type on at work.

So the K90 is good to type on? Been considering a Mech but I do a lot of typing at home for work, and the wife uses the PC also. Are the reds and blacks very loud? I'm trying to find one that is not so loud. Can you compare to a G15 for use in typing/gaming and sound?

I can never drink vodka in moderation. Always end up with a hangover. Greg Goose is what my dad buys, so Greg Goose just reminds me of Christmas/Easter/Thanksgiving hangovers. Oh god.

Maybe you should lay off the knockoff "Greg" Goose and try the real stuff "Grey" goose Less of a hangover that way

the K90 is noticeably louder than my G15, but the noise is not from the switches, which are silent on activation, it comes from bottoming out on the metal base. Its not a click, so much as a thud, and i don't find it particularly intrusive. Technically you can type without bottoming out, but it takes practice I suppose. Even though the reds are supposed to be the least "typing oriented" Cherry MX keys, the progressive feel is IMO far superior to the mushyness of a membrane key. The one area where the reds fall down is that the actuation force is low, lower than the force required for a G15, and the switch is linear, there is no increase in force at the actuation point like there is for the browns and blues (or a membrane key). this definitely increases the likelihood of accidental keypresses, which is actually much more of an issue for me in gaming than it is when i'm typing. Thats why I'm picking up the blacks on the monoprice keyboard, they should have the same benefits of the linear rate, but with a higher actuation force to prevent accidental keypresses from just resting fingers on the keys while hovering around the actuation point. If I wanted a pure typing keyboard I would probably have tried finding something with browns, but I want to test drive this keyboard for gaming as well. plus, it includes a wrist rest which I always prefer.

overall the K90 is a nice keyboard, well made. The wrist rest is nice, the keys feel nice, it feels solid. it took some getting used to but at this point I'm not sure I could go back to my old G15 for gaming.

If I ever get a mechanical keyboard it will have brown MX switches. Back when I was researching keyboards I came to the conclusion that brown is a good choice for a keyboard that will be used for both gaming and typing.

I'm not sure if browns would be better than blues for gaming. The keys are functionally very similar, its just a matter of noise. They would probably be preferred for typing due to the positive actuation, but the major reason thats true is that you don't have to bottom out to get feedback, so you can reduce average key-travel and increase your typing rate.

I preordered Max Payne 3 for the PC. Max Payne, first two were great PC games, third one getting good reviews on consoles, so I'll figure I'll wait the 2 weeks and play the PC version.

Had a hard time not getting a nexus, picked the new evo mostly based on hardware and the camera.

I think I may end up purchasing a gsm nexus device later this year with jellybean and buy out my contract from sprint and go prepaid. HSPA+ speeds are pretty sick, and they don't eat as much battery as lte. LTE is going to get better now that more phones have the radios integrated into the SOC but I assume the technology is just more power hungry.

Prepaid I can get a decent plan for 50 bucks a month with no hidden fees, compared to the 100 a month on contract. With the savings I can easily purchase a new phone every year! Not to mention I can switch carriers at will, just have to stay gsm is all.

I shutter to think of using att's network, but I just can't live with the same phone for more than a year and go without updates because of carrier bloat.

Oh and I'm sick of flashing roms. CM7 is nice, but it's not as solid as stock, and stock is just, OLD!

Bought some Thorogood boots. American and Union made, no wear in, composite toe (hate safety toe but at least composite isn't as annoying as steel) and best of all I get a decent union discount.

If only my employer still offered boot checks, I could have saved another 100 bucks :/

My red wings are 9 months old and deteriorating fast, also not pleased to find out they're made in china after the guy selling them at the red wings store claimed they were still american made. No wonder they didn't give me my little american flag shoelace thingies. Not a big fan of red wings either way, they really don't make a quality product anymore, though I've not been in the trade long enough to know if they ever actually did.

My 10 year old steel toe Red Wings are still going strong...(they actually were made in Red Wing, MN)

However I do NOT use them as everyday boots, more like 1-2 weeks every month. I just mink oil them 1-2 times per year, after a low bake in the oven

I dunno how you do it. I've never had a pair of boots last more than maybe 18 months, and when you told me you've been using the same pair of gloves for years, well how?

I don't really take near as good care of my boots as you seem to though. I think my boot dryer actually killed my red wing king toes a bit prematurely, but in the winter time I needed that thing! Even putting the leather aside the soles have little actual rubber tread left, mostly down the the foam rubber beneath. Working on concrete will do that.

Right now I get a week out of leather gloves, granted they're not pricey ones, but even the expensive ones tend to die off after a couple weeks. I just tape of the holes and tears with duct tape and hope for another couple days. Technically gloves are supposed to be supplied to us, but yeah, that's never happened.

Must be a trade specific thing, No carpenter I know has had the luck you have with their boots or gloves. Damn sparkies have it made I tell ya

It's just that the nail benders that aren't smart enough to take care of things

I use "framers gloves" from Home Depot, granted I don't wear them all day; but they last me a good 9 months to a year provided I don't spill chemicals on them.
