    Collier's encyclopedia from 1957

My grandmother decided to throw away her collier's encyclopedia set from 1957 and I haven't had the heart to toss it in the dumpster. I feel like it has to have some historical value to it. I haven't really read them but it's like that is a snapshot of what we knew of the world 50 years ago. It seems like that might be important.

My wife is starting to nag me because they've been riding around in the back of my car for the past 3 weeks. What should I do with them? Personally I'm not altogether interested in reading any of them but I don't think it'd be right to toss them out. We tried selling them at a yard sale but unfortunately we couldn't find any collectors that might be interested. I'd sell it on ebay if ebay wasn't run by retired car salesmen and demon spawn.

What do you think I should do?

ebay if you dont want them, i have a pretty old set myself. from the 60's or so

edit* I see you dont want to ebay them... maby you can put them up on craigslist, and someone might be interested... or you could just keep them... sometimes they are interesting to read.

Called any rare book shops? They could maybe give you an off-the-cuff estimate over the phone, maybe pay you cash for it, and put it in the hands of someone who really wants them.

How much do they weigh? Shipping would be a factor if you sell other than locally. They're to "new" for a rare book store unless autographed by someone ie; Charles Dickens, Mark Twain, Einstein... etc.. They're more of a collectable item. Too bad you can't keep them. Up here there's a place (pizza, ice cream, burgers) called Johnny Angel's with nostalgia type items for decoration. Maybe if there was a place like that in your area they'd be interested.
