    help removing growth

my friend got jailed and i inherited his old watercooling stuff. problem is, he never took very good care of it, and there is now a good amount of white growth coating the blocks.

i've tried cleaning it out with about everything i can think of, but to no avail. is there soemthing out there that is really good at this? i've even put it in the parts washer at work, and it didn't phase it.

There is no substitute for friction and manual washing. It's a pain, but get pipecleaners down there. White stuff could either be a buildup of dissolved particles (minerals) or bio-growth. If it's minerals you'll either want vinegar or something to dissolve calcium and lime....like CLR.

    Hubris,

i'd have pipe cleaners down there instantly, except they can't contort the way i need then to.

i'll give vinigar a try, and i was thinking of maybe drano. i've been trying to stay away from the acid, it's my last resort. that stuff does wonders tho.

    thanks

Vinegar is relatively harmless and is used to clean calcium deposits in electric steam irons and coffee makers - it works very well.

So, if the blocks have calcium deposits, it will do the job well.

If it's something else, then you will just have to experiment until you find the right stuff/technique.
