Cool i will definately try the beta and even the Demo but i will NEVER buy the full game... well not for >$30. Because this game is just an Expe$ive expan$ion and they are not getting $50 from me for a $20 effort.

then every game ever based off the quake 3 engine is an expansion, and there's a ton of those games out there, i'm sure if you game much you prolly own a couple.

i can't stand when people call it that, i hate ea as much as the next guy, but i can hardly call this an expansion pack. expansions expand the current gameplay, they don't totally convert every thing in the game.

if those are your criteria medal of honor allied assault was an expansion for quake 3, granted you moved slower, jumped less high, had real weapons and were killing nazi's but yeah, totally the same game

They should be working on fixing BF2 and they seem to be more involved in BF 2142.......

A game based off an engine is a completely different thing from a game that is just the same as the other but with different skins!

    yes indeed.

what would it take for this to be a new game? seriously? if the engine is working and capable of being used for a new game then why make one from scratch? would you rather have bf2 with a new engine? just a rehash of the same with prettier graphics?

everyone complains that bf2 is broke, yet they want bf2142 to be built on a totally new engine, then we'd end up with yet another bugggy game with an endless stream of patches. at least if they use the same engine they'll have most of the bugs worked out and know how to use the tools they built.

if you think about it it's better this way because they created the bf2 engine for bf2, and now that they have figured out their new tools they can do much more with them than they could before. why make the engine for one game and then totally abandon it?

don't get me wrong i have had more than my fair share of problems with bf2 and ea, but this is by far the silliest gripe i have ever heard. where were all you guys when i started complaining about the bugs months ago and i was told i was whining and that i was the only one with the problems? the way i see it is my game works fine now, you're the ones with the problems, you didn't care when the roles were reversed so why should i care now?

personally i dunno if i'll buy the game or not, but not because i think it's just an expansion, but because i dunno if i'll like the more futureistic gameplay.

oh and look at the gta series, how many games has rockstar released that are basically gta3 in a new city? 4 or 5? all full priced mind you. and each one of those had much less change than what bf2142 is gonna have.

    Re: BF 2142 Beta "Soon"

i think everyones just trying to say....its not worth $50 bucks........

i pay $50 for a Brand new Engine......i pay $20 for an expansion.

If this is game is just a cosmetic remake of BF2 then its nothing more then an expansion and not worth charging people full price as if its a brand new game....

    Re: BF 2142 Beta "Soon"

I'm suprised that BF2142 is already entering beta (and a "public" one at that), now whether that's for better or worse remains to be seen. I guess that is an advantage to using an existing engine though.

BF2142 looks pretty cool, but I don't think i'm gonna buy it, but not for anti-EA or cost reasons. I find myself these days wanting to play an RTS more than I do FPS, and Joint Task Force, C&C3, and Supreme Commander look badass.

OMG some one who understands English.... Yes that is what i am saying. BF2 was a new Engine.... new everything but kept some of its roots from BF1942. BF2142 is just a.... errrrr.... a half a$$ed attempt to make a quick buck..... They put just as much effort into this game as they did BFSF, IMO they are only pretending as if they have been working blood sweat and tears into this game when in reality they probably put the same effort into it as BFSF.... I will LMAO if i see the same red/blue bug in BF2142... lol

you're the one not understanding english. why should they need to make a new engine if the old one works? now if you made video games yourself i might have an understanding of where you're coming form, but i can tell you don't.

creating a whole new engine is a waste. if the old one is working and now that they know all kinds of tricks they can make a game that's more than worth the 50 bux.

geeze, i'm sure you've paid more for much less. it's a mp game, most people will easily get a 100 hours out of it or more, i think 50 bux is a small price to pay for 100 hours of entertainment. take your girlfriend out to eat one night and you'll spend more than that and probably end up with less entertainment.

you guys just seem to want to pay for a "new engine" you don't seem to care whether the game is going to be any good or not. for all you know it may become the most popular fps ever, who really knows? but you'll refuse to get it for silly reasons like because it has an engine that was used on a previous game.

there is no way to make a quick buck in the game industry anymore. if you make one game that fails chances are you just wasted 1000's of man hours and millions of dollars in developement costs. they spent all kinds of time, probably years making the engine in bf2, and you expect them to only use it in one game?

you guys seem to want the wheel reinvented every couple of months.

and yet you have no idea what the game is worth. like i said, depends how much gameplay you get out of the game, people pay 50 bux for a sp game that barely last 20 hours, yet a mp game with unlimited gameplay isn't worth the same 50?

and yes i did compare a game to a date. at least when you buy a game you're gaurenteed some action, the date you may pay for and end up shaking the fist at the ex girlfriend when the nights through.
