    Re: Asus Crosshair AM2 Motherboard

Well, I have my answer, the whole quad SLI thing is obsolete. See the following link:

    http://forums.slizone.com/lofiversio...php?t6820.html

The 7950 GX2 is no longer available for purchase in order to move people to the new high end GPU cards.

I didn't expect that, I expected to be able to add another GX2 about this time ( a bit over a year). But that is not possible and what I read is that the new 8800 cards are faster than the GX2's of last year.

So, the best path seems to be to unload the GX2 and upgrade to a current GPU card for the Crosshair.

So, if the Crosshair supports Quad GPU's or not is no longer information of any use, can't upgrade to quad anyway and it doesn't make sense to anymore.

Now I never expected to be obsolete so fast..

    Re: Asus Crosshair AM2 Motherboard

I ran the Quad 7950 GX2s when I was running XP. When I installed Vista there were no quad drivers so had to remove one board and run in regular SLI. My 7950 quit working and I was gived a 8800 GTS OC as a replacement.

The 8800 runs faster alone than the 7950 GX2 did in SLI.

(Was running a Crosshair at the time but was about to replace it for the third time so upgraded to my current board)
    Asus M8Z77-V Deluxe
    Intel 3770K
    G-Skill 1600 16G
    Corsair H100
    EVGA 670 GTX
    2 Corsair Force 3 120G (Raid 0)
    2 x Seagate 1T 6G
    2 Samsung SyncMaster T260HD Monitors
    Thermaltake Level 10 UGK
    Silverstone Olympia OP1000 1000W
    Windows 8

Never argue with idiots, they will drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

So running two 8800's in SLI is the top end nowadays.

My set up still runs fine, so I'll keep it until something wears out or I can't get the performance I need in sims/games I'm interested in.

So far, my Crosshair MB has performed well as far as I know. No complaints there. Did have to replace my WD Raptor 10,000rpm SATA 150 Gig HD though, under warranty. That has been the only problem so far.

    ASUS AM2 Crosshair MB
    2 Gig Corair Memory
Antheon 64 Dual Core +4000 CPU
    150 Gig WD Raptor HD
    ASUS EN7950 GX2 GPU
    Antec Case
    Samsung 226BW Screen
    Creative Soundblaster Platinum Soundcard
    Razor mouse

    Re: Asus Crosshair AM2 Motherboard

    Hi there Guys:

I have this problem: In march this year I bought a Crosshair motherboard, and I installed on it

    4 Corsair CM2X1024-6400C4D
    AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual-Core 5200
EVGA e-GeForce 8800GTS 640 MB PCIe Video Card
    Ultra X-Finity ULT31848 600-Watt

The PC worked fine for a while until that a blue screen appeared in Windows and restarted. Then It beeped three times (memory leak) and in the LCD screen you could read DET DRAM.After disconnecting all Corsair modules and started the PC with a sole generic module. After that, I began to connect progressively again all Corsair modules and the pc worked.

Yesterday, my PC had the same failure, I followed the same procedure but without success. Of all Corsair modules, only one works. After this I reinstalled the PC completely, updated the bios, I setup the memories under 2.1v and 4-4-4-4 12 but withou any results.

After checking Asus' QVL it says that Crosshair MB only works with a single memory module of this model. So Why the PC started before with 4 modules and not now?

After restoring the Bios, my question is. How do I have to configure the bios in order that all 4 modules can work? If I have to purchase new memory modules which is the brand and model of DDR-2 800 you would recommend me?

Thank you and regards from a newbie,

Well welcome to PC PERSPETIVE.Im running the rig above your 1ST POST HERE EVER .The Corsair I have has served me well for almost a year now.I know the lower price Corsair 6400 something will do just as good. You might have a MB that has started going bad too. i would go to Corsairs site and whatever they have spec"d out for the Crosshair then that is what I would go with.As for getting your mobo to run four sticks then I would start out on auto select and the later start tweaking.I had my first mobo go bad after I owned it for a few months and it was all to do with bad memory slots and bad Corsair memory at the same time but warrenty replace them both

So keep at it and you will probaly have it puring like a kitty before you know it.HAPPY NEW YEAR to ya too!

    Re: Asus Crosshair AM2 Motherboard

Hi, this is my first time at any type of forum. Thanks in advance for any assistance.

I built a new computer in November 2006.
    Asus M2-Crosshair
    XFX GF 7600GS 256MB DDR2 Dual DVI TV PCI-E
    2 - Kingston KVR800D2N5/512
    AMD Athlon 64 X2 4200+
    2 - Seagate Barracuda SATA2 300GB Silent Hard Drives
    Seasonic S12 600W Power Supply
    Antec P180 Case
3 Nexus Black and White 120mm Case Fans
    Acoustipack Deluxe V2

    I installed Windows XP Professional

Until now I have only really used this for business software. It seemed very slow - may take several minutes for software to launch but seemed quick after launch - but never crashes. A few weeks ago a friend introduced me to World of Warcraft. While trying to play this my video seems ok for the first few minutes then gradually becomes so full of artifacts that I can not see any of the screen.

I am considering new memory or video card. Is this the appropriate avenue or is there something else I should consider?

Finances are very tight right now so any help would be sincerely appreciated.

First you need more memory.. looks like you are running 2 X 512 I would suggest 2gig kit like newegg Item #: N82E16820609026 this is $29.99 with 4438 timiming is great stuff and over clocks well.

Next the 4200 was a good processor but I would suggest upgrading to either the 6000 Item #: N82E16819103272 running at 3.1g for 76$ or maybe better the Item #: N82E16819103300 is the 7750 with is duel core based on phenom with some L3 cash and it 79$

As to video the 7600gs is great for anything but gaming. for 99.99 I would go for the 4830 great card. Item #: N82E16814102803 plus that also has a 10$ mail in rebate .

    Hope that helps ...

    SATA ports 1 - 6

    Good day,

I installed a second video card so I can have an SLI set up. But there is very little room if any above the SATA port connector 1 on the MB.

So can I just plug in the SATA data cable to another port connector on the MB, Say into the port #6 connector? If I do that, will I need to reconfigure the BIOS or anything.

I hope I can just plug it into another of the blue data port conectors, is that possible?

Should be plug and play. You may have to go into the bios to change the primary boot drive. Easiest way if you have problems is reset to fail safe or optimal defaults then pick your drive and every thing should line up.
