    it wouldn't be a crack, it'd be a work around, hell it'd be a total rewrite, it'd be a step backward, it definately wouldn't be dx10, it'd be dx10ish.

it's not possible, it's not going to happen, it's ludacris to speak of it. dx10 is it's own entity, it's not backward compatible with 9 or previous versions, there will be a seperate dx9.0l, i believe they're calling it, for games that need dx9 in vista.

just let go of the dream, ms isn't concerned with xp in the long run, it's time for the next step, that's vista if you choose to stay with windows, if not i hear linux has some sweet card games, and osx should be getting halo2 in a year or two if you care to wait.

I didn't realize you were such a leet software designer you could be an authority on this.
    Oh, wait...
I guess you don't know what you are talking about.

He is basically right about Dx10 and WinXP though. Maybe not theoretically totally impossible, but in practice it is. Who would try e.g. emulating XBox360 on a regular Xbox?

    Re: Vista gaming - 2GB vs 4GB

i could really care less if i'm on anyones ignore list, so for future refernce, don't even bother telling me, as i don't really care, it's just the internet afterall.

and how you would know whether i write software or not is really beyond me, but you are correct in your assumption, however unlike you it seems i have read a bit on the whole subject and sem to have a better understanding than yourself, with that said, i'm not making this up to make anyone mad, i'm stating what i know from various articles from reputable sources, so yes i believe them.

not sure why you'd want to emulate dx10 on xp but that's what you'd be doing, the game would run worse because of it and i'd bet large sums of money on that. so unless you're willing to hold onto xp for a good 5 years or more while hardware makes the emulation of dx10 on xp barable, i'd recommend giving up the dream, it's a waste of "hackers" and "l33t software designers" time and resources.
