    PSU, CPU, or MOBO?

Went to boot a previously smooth running system last night and nothing happened. Green ATX switch light was (already) on but no fans, no post, no nothing. Removed case door and noted that little yellow light on motherboard was lit.

Here is what I have tried:

Used safeboot jumper and tried to reset CMOS........nothing.

Doulble checked that all plugs were securely in the apprpriate socket........nothing.

Unplugged everything that was unnecesary (FDD, HDD, DVD Drive)...nothing.

Does not matter if I try to power on via ATX switch or on/reset buttons on MOBO.

Did note that fans turn on if I jump pins 4 and 6 on ATX plug (part of Koolance testing and set up procedure)

I am thinking PSU as it felt warm despite fact that PC had been off for at least 4 hrs prior to this. Any suggestions as to how I can be sure?

Thanks in advance for your thoughts and input.

I'd be suspecting the psu as well,if you have a DVM/DMM you could test rails,

    OK, checked voltages.

Could get no readings while ATX plug was connected to MOBO.

Removed plug and again jumped pins 4 and 6 to turn on fans and verify I had current running,

    5v rail = 5.16,
    3.3v rail = 3.46
    12v rail = 12.20

This is a dual 12v rail PSU, not sure if I got a measurement on both 12v's.

Of course, these readings are under very little load, just fans, water pump and 4 pin molex (for SLI) and intel 4 pin in MOBO.

Did note that all 4 red diagnostic LED's turned on on MOBO with just the above connectors actually plugged into the board.

Anyways, have an OCZ GameXtreme PSU on the way. Still pretty sure it's a PSU issue.

We have an Abit AV8 that is doing the same thing.
I tried running the MB as a bare bones thingy, would not even post.
I tried the AV8 that I pulled out of my rig and same thing.
New PowerSupply will be here tomorrow.
If you are asking for a suggestion on PowerSupplies.
I can speak for the FSP BLue Storm AX500A.
All rails are just a tad bit right on the line as to where they are supposed to be.
The 12v rail is always just a tad over 12v.
Have no problems. If you are gonna run SLI etc, you need to get a 600 Watt unit.
