How much does it cost for a water cooling setup like that (CPU only), UncleBob? I've got a C2D begging for 4GHz, but it simply overheats quickly with air cooling.

Not too much although I have a rather extensive watercooling system (see link in sig) I suggest you try a more agressive air cooling setup first, however. IMHO, w/c will only make it quieter, not better cooling as you are still passing air through a radiator to cool!

    Re: 3DMark2006 Hall of Fame

This is true, but there's more heat storage potential (the water) and more dissipation area with higher airflow. Since you're dumping the same amount of heat into a system with more potential storage and an even more effective exchange system, your cooler itself (eg the waterblock) stays cooler as well. This is a good thing. (tm)

Basically with (good) water you get to dump in more heat before it loses effectiveness. I've just never done one due to the price and bulk of a traditional systems.

For a 7900GTO, that's kind of low. The GTO should be a little faster than the GT. My friend's 7900GT with an X2 4600+ scores around 4900 marks at default everything.

4k area would be closer. make sure you have all aa and af set to off in the video control panel (right click desktop > properties > settings tab > advanced) also make sure v-synch is disabled.

no of that really helps, just factory information about your parts, what we really need to know is what settings you're using to overclock that stuff with.
