The Adobe program is Adobe Acrobat.

For free, there is Open Office, which will export-to-pdf most Office documents (Excel, Word, Power Point) as well as drawings and photos.

Or there is Win2PDF, google it. Its like setting up a virtual printer but creates a PDF instead of actually printing.

About this part, what program are you using for the quotes? Generally, Office documents can be password protected. Though it is more polite (proper?) to send a platform-independent form like pdf.

PDF995. Use it at work, use it at home, it works and is simple if all you want is "print to PDF" capability.
