Do I need to buy Google Earth pro?

I downloaded Google Earth free version just to check it out, it seems like a friendly program but when I zoom in on a area, I cannot get a clear image. I was wondering if I buy the pro version, I can zoom in on areas (like my house) an actually see "my house" in the image.

Do you "need" to buy Google Earth Pro?... No. You might want to. How much is seeing your house form orbit worth?

Not every single area has the same image resolution on GoogleEarth. Typically, USA major cities have the most up to date images and the highest res. while minor countries and/or less inhabited areas only have low-zoom images.

I can get a reasonably sharp image of my neighbourhood, and can even see my house and the vehicles on the street, but the image is not often updated, as far as I can say. Still see the same bus on that same curve, every time.

Ah, and I only got the free version, so I believe that image quality has nothing to do with Pro vs Standard. I'd guess Pro would give you better searching features instead.

P.S> If you try the coordinates on my profile ^^^^, you'll get a nice image of the city I live in.

I have the plus, the performance is faster with plus and pro just gives you more features as MarkHark said. Its a killer program but they have a lot of work to do in updating and adding to the globe.

the image quality from standard to plus to pro is the same, the purchased versions just have more editing/extra features

If you just want high resolution shots, the answer is probably no.

www.yellowpages.com has a map section that I've found most interesting.

Click on this link and in the upper right corner click the "aerial" button. You will get a fairly high resolution black-and-white overhead shot. Zoom out a bit and you'll get the same satellite image as Google. Since we're in a small town, it is not good resolution at all, but it is in color.

Now you want high resolution color? Click on the "bird's eye" button. Best I've seen available for free. I can see the cracks in the asphalt roads on most city streets.

You don't need pro version of Google Earth. Microsoft Virtual Earth has real good resolution and the images are more up to date then Google Earth. 2D view then click on bird's eye view.

    I don't agree:

Having a smoking section in a resturant is like having a peeing section in a swimming pool.

    5901 W Broadway, Phoenix, AZ

    500k Img

Click the above image link. The area to the east in color, and north of Broadway Road, is new development in last 12 months. When I checked this section about 8-9 months ago, the B/W section in MS Maps, is the same image as I present. In Google Maps, it was my housing development with the streets being trenched and in color.

And question all you want. Still doesn't make it right.

You are viewing LIVE in Hybrid view so of course it will be B&W, LOL.

I see that now. So both are up to date with pictures. Neither one though shows the completed streets in the pathfinding.

The only useful thing I'd find with the pro version is the faster servers.

Here's more info and a link to a 7 day trial:
