    Re: Presidential Campaign 2008

^^Agree with Dutch on Romney. Also with his premise that people are gonna turn away from dc insiders. History is also on Romneys side.
Senators dont seem to do well in presidential runs.

Wasnt Kennedy the last senator to get into the Whitehouse?

I say let Rumsfield be President. He's been in and around the White House since, like... Washington or something. I think things would get real interesting.

Also, someone who's campaign isn't "The other guy sucks" would be nice.

I love how rudy is up in the polls with the republicans, for their primaries even though he's like almost as liberal as ted kennedy

As it stands right now all I see is blue republicans and dark blue democrats. As usual traditional conservatives donít have a dog in the fight.

It is further proof both parties move more to the left on most of the important issues with each new election cycle.

As far as Iím concerned we are pretty danged close to a one party system.

Im keeping my eye on Romney. It will be interesting.
So far? He makes the most sense to me.
McCain? Forget about it. I think hes full of shit despite his fine servive to country. Being a pow hardly qualifies the guy as any sort of expert around military stuff.
Rudy? Well as a VP to make the ticket more interesting to the less conservative republicans? I can live with Rudy in that slot.

If you check out that Guy Patriot site...youll see how all those guys are solid for Rudy. I guess in my head maybe they represent a chunk of the party thats strong on defense issues. Strong on Judicial nominations etc. But social stuff a more liberal position.
Thats what I was getting at that maybe Rudy makes some sense
if republicans wanta go with a more centrist plan/ticket....or at least appeal to those folks.

^^Here. What I was talking about.

    http://gaypatriot.net/2006/11/17/rudy-the-right

The gay deal isnt my cup of tea and its not really high on my list of priorities.
But should these guys be ignored when we agree on so many other issues?
How can I bash these guys? Or pretend they dont exist? I cant.
So I figure? We may as well find common ground. Focus on that common ground rather than the differences.

    Re: Presidential Campaign 2008

Im reading the latest polls and I wonder how the dems here are thinking

    From recent poll

    Hillary in the lead
    Followed by Obama and Edwards.
The longshot [anti Hillary] seems to be Gore.

What say the dems here? Agree at this point?

Republican leader is McCain at this point from what I gather.
Still too early for me to settle on anyone at this point.

Also I wonder how damaging Rudy would be to dems.
Seems to me hed run strong and capture alot of dem votes.

Rudy's got far too many skeletons in the closet...Romney? what are his big accomplishments as governor...? No name recognition. On the dem side...anyone but Hillary...please!

^^ I wont argue with what you say about Hillary. I dont think Obama is ready yet.
And Romney? As a pure statistic? Hes got a good shot simply because hes not a Senator.
Candidates from the Senate dont do well in Presidential runs.

Also, my gut feeling is people are wanting someone not associated with the den of crooks in DC.
