What a great thread. Lots of good info. I'm thinking about getting a Canon S3 IS. Any of you guys have any opinions on other brands other than Cannon?

My Dad had a Yashica film Camera that He took all His slides with(Don't know what type though, It wasn't an SLR), I have the slides, Not the camera and one of these days I'm going to scan them all, add some text and put them on some DVD discs as those pics must survive as the film won't last forever(family photos really).

I think I mentioned it earlier in this thread, but I got my dad a Canon CanoScan 8600F scanner to do all his slides.

I'm telling I am just amazed at the results we've got! Have a look at this picture that was taken from the late 60's on colour slide film and then scanned onto the computer last month:

No colour correction was applied to this image. This is the raw scan we too.

Very nice SP, I have a Canon 9950F Canoscan scanner, It has support for XP x64 and yeah that includes drivers too. I don't have It out of the box as I don't have anywhere yet to put It, At least not yet.

Maybe you guys can help. There is a thread at Tech Talk by Orangutan
asking for info right up your alley. Hes looking for both a dig camera...and also an Mp3 device that will work with one another so one can store the output of the camera.

    Thanks

Re: To our resident camera buffs...

Meh... he found another solution by the time I got there. I left my solution anyhow, for when the NEXT guy goes lookin' for the same thing. In case you didn't read the thread (and my answer!) I pointed him to the Wolverine ESP... Costco has the 100GB version for $399 , about what Adorama sells the 80GB version for. The 120GB goes for $480, so I got the Costco version... and I love mine. Why?

It takes .cr2 RAW files right off of my card, and displays 'em on the screen. Niiiiiiiice.

Lots of Personal Digital Gadgets out there, some others with a large capacity hard drive... but this one is 1) Relatively low priced, 2) huge capacity @ 100GB 3) large screen 4) takes RAW image files natively.

Now, next year this thing will be uselessly passed by by the 'latest thing' to come out, but for now it rocks!

Whoops and thank you and Scruff for the replies. Just good to know where the camera and goodies guys are when I spot questions.

    Again thanks.

Edit: BTW? Will you guys accept all camera related questions here? If not say so....but we could make it sorta a "rule" that this thread is where to come....rather than folks wasting time in a forum that
    isnt equipped to help.

    On the way....!!

I figure at the very least it would do two things

    1. The member gets his question resolved
    2. Great exposure for what you guys do here

Here is a shot of a raisin.

Sad to say but there was an arguement, and push came to shove.

And someone lost the arguement, and was eaten quite quickly.
