Which DSC did she get? I have the DSC-T11 and up until actually learning how to hold it properly (it's the shape of a credit card) and not block the lens with finger, I love it.

You should consider a kodak for your daughter. They take better shots than nikon, canon, or sony. No red eye and good exposure. Plus it's inexpensive.

We've had a Sony DSC-P7 for years... it's alright but can tick you off. I will say it's taken quite a bit of abuse.

Futureshop had a sale last week for Kodak C875. While extensively researching like a mad man on Canon/Fuji/dSLRs...it was ironically a good camera (based on reviews): red eye is rare, zoom is something like 5x. Plus it was around $200.

In case you want to shop for yourself also (haha) I've narrowed my choices down to the SD series (if size is important..though they are somewhat heavy!)), the A630/A710, and the G7 (if they go on sale).

Helluva storm, just got the cable back. Lost power for a few days, but we had a generator, and the gas station down at the bottom of the hill only ran out AFTER I got my cans filled!

Don't want to do that again, though... we hit 90mph on our hill. MASSIVE treefall around here, lots of signs gone, too. A million folks without power last week, maybe 200K without power still. What a storm.
