    Question HELP!!! Peripherals on Ubuntu

    good day all. for class today we are supposed to install some peripherals on our linux rigs. the peripherals are :

    HP Colorado 5GB (tape drive)
    Iomega Zip 250

    We have been trying for 2 days and no1 has ben successful. we can barely speak "linux" and its a nightmare. can any1 offer any assistance at all to get these devices installed and enabled? i know its old hardware but thats just the lab task that we have been assigned to. details would help as i said we dont speak "linux" to good.

    Is the Zip 250 IDE, USB or parallel (did they do a parallel 250??)

    Same question but for the tape drive. What's the connection type? USB, Parallel, SCSI, IDE. Is it internal or external? Any possibility of getting model numbers?

    my bad, i forgot the interface, they are both external parallel
