    Game of the Year discussion

With 2006 drawing to a close I thought it would be nice to have a place to discuss what you thought was the best game of 2006. I intentionally didn't make this a poll because right now it's no secret that BF2142 and BF2 have easily been the most popular games of 2006 around here and I'm sure one of them would win a poll. So instead let's just discuss what YOU thought was the best game of 2006 and why.

Re: Game of the Year discussion

In the beginning I very much enjoyed BF2 but over time got sort of bored with it. Now I'm liking BF2142 a lot. Not nearly bored with it yet. I think BF2142 improved on several things I didn't like about BF2 so for me I would give BF2142 my vote for GOTY.

Re: Game of the Year discussion

well since bf2 came out last year i guess it really can't be i the running, and even though i have fun playing bf2142, it's got too many bugs that should have been fixed in the first patch for me to even consider it more than public beta of the year.

i'd love to be able to alt+tab again, seeing as how 2142 and bf2 are so much the same, i don't see how that got broke exactly inbetween games.

since both the games i play the most are out on technicalities, i say give it to prey, it was so different, soo many cool new things in it and looked awesome, yes, definately prey.

It doesn't matter that BF2 wasn't released in 2006. This discussion is based on the best game PLAYED in 2006.

in that case, i change my vote to MOH:AA, best game of the century! so simple, so stable, so fast and easy to load up, why couldn't ea make all its games like that?

Put me down for Oblivion as well. Sure it was flawed, but still a mile ahead of the competition (yes, I've tried Gothic3 - it's pants). Stunning graphics, some interesting quests, and the world's most annoying monster leveling system.

I have to say Oblivion. The Elder Scrolls got me hooked on Daggerfall, and I love the work put into the games. Oblivion busted out with full dialogue for every character, a beautiful world to travel in, and so many things to do other than the storyline. The game is just awesome.

    Some Minnesota team....win!

    Rainbow Six Raven Shield.
It may be close, if not more than 4 years old.
The graphics may dated by todays standards.
But it is still a hella' lota' fun to get on comms with your buds for some online MP play.

Indeed. I didn't play it much in 2006 but I do enjoy the multiplayer.

Half Life 2 Death Match. I have played both Call of Duty's as well as the MOH games. This was the first one that was more fun for me than wolfenstein enemy territory. To be able to go in one server and make whatever you want and change it up to death match is great. I loved Prey, it was the best looking shooter I think but HL2 Death match was my favorite.

I considered Hitman: Blood Money and F.E.A.R., but I think I had the most fun this year playing Shadow of the Colossus.
