I just finished this update with SL-K8TPro-939

I got this mobo for 35 with everything in the box with Bios W3 with a 4000+ single core. Unfortunately my Nforce 2 got the liking caps and was giving me blue screen every 4 hours was hard for me saying good by...

I ve been a Soltek fan since KT133a board and I like Soltek, they sent me a personal letter one day with the sensor for the SL V4.

This 939 board is OK and I like the features, I running WD 160 Sata 2 and is working fast. My other systems overclock better with Asrock 939 with the Agp and Pci port with the 3000+ overclock great...

Hey colonel, if you are interested in updating your bios, you can go to the link below and click on downloads, then mainboard, and under model name scroll down to the k8t-939 for all the bioses through 1.6, along with a few other odds and ends. Many folks around here have seemed to favor version 1.5, though some have used 1.6.

As you can see from the above link, life at Soltek as we knew it seemed to end in May, 2005.

    Sounds like a good deal!

My K8TPro-939 can be overclocked just past 270 MHz HTT. This should be possible if you lower your RAM multiplier to 166 MHz or lower. Right now I've got it running at 10 x 250 MHz with a 3800 X2, RAM set to 166 MHz, all at default voltage. While not as good as some nF3 boards, the K8TPro-939 is a decent overclocker.

I got the board running the Bios W6 with memory OCZ premium in Doble channel. I want to add 2 more sticks later but I found out it very picky with 4 sticks..

I tried mine with four sticks a few weeks back just for the hell of it and at default settings, it actually ran ddr400 with my cpu, but with cmd rate of 2. That was using the patriot and the ocz in my sig. But if I tried to oc, I had to reset the memory to 333. The cmd rate of 1 really sucks, as I saw a clear slowdown. That's why I've never tried 4 sticks.

I thought CR1 was faster than CR2? Isn't the problem that if you want to run four sticks you have to run in the slower CR2 mode?

Oops, I meant cmd rate of 2 sucks/ And yes, with 4 sticks, you're stuck with cmd rate of 2, as I had indicated earlier in the post.

Just how much suckage is there with CR2?

Is it so slow that it offsets the advantage of having 2GB of RAM? I'm using 2 x 512MB in dual channel right now, running at 208 MHz. Not sure if it would be worth it to buy two 1GB sticks of PC3200 at this point.

Re: I just finished this update with SL-K8TPro-939

Per Sandra, I usually run at memory bandwidth of 6200+MB at current memory settings, which are like 2.5-3-3-10, 1T, something like that, at ddr 400. Running at ddr333 and 2T, bandwidth was like 4200MB. Plus, there was a slight sense of lag. I really didn't run it long enough to fully explore the differences, however.

I've considered buying 2 X 1 gig, but I'm reluctant to spend that much money on ddr memory with its life expectancy getting shorter everyday. Decent 2 X 1gig ddr is still close to if not above $200 US. With K8L around the corner, or even Core2Duo, a huge expenditure for ddr seems questionable. Plus, I'm doing fine with my current 2 X 512.
