I was thinking of getting rid of some old hardware (selling it) and have had an Asus A7N8x in it's box for the past year and want rid. Thing is a friend had a similar board and when he tried to re-use it after a long period of no use it was completely dead, he reckons the Bios is dead as the CMOS battery ran down.
I don't want to go through selling it only to be told I have to take it back as it doesn't work but I also don't want to have to re-build a PC to check it is okay, is there an easier way I can check this board still lives ??
Hmm yeah, I guess I could go with an out of the case test - out of interest how do you get the power to trigger if you don't connect to a switch on a case?
You touch the power switch pins with a conductive object, like a paperclip or housekey (note small screwdriver in picture). Once for on, and again for off. They are located on the System panel connector block. It will be the last thing listed in the Connectors" section of the manual. If you need a manual, links are above in the sticky.
