Re: Iran: It's getting serious (merged)

I think there's obvious evidence to believe that the US may decide to launch some sort of attacks against Iranian forces. Iranian tampering has been evident and reported for the last year or two but it's only recently that the White House has been giving a lot of tough talk and releasing evidence perhaps to vindicate them when the time comes. There isn't a single press release that's wasted and if Mr. Bush has taken it upon himself and his staff to start pumping out documentation that screams "Let's attack Iran!" then it's not exactly a stretch of the imagination that that is probably in the cards.

Frankly, I don't think we have a deep enough purse and enough man power to start any campaign there and the conflicts that will be spawned from it. There is a limit and I think we already passed it. Attacking Iran may be something that's necessary but like Iraq and Afghanistan we don't have enough follow through or strategy to actually bring any long term benefit.

It is my understanding Iran uses the Persian calendar. Why then, would weapons produced in Iran have the Gregorian date/year stamped on them?

Congratulations, you can read between the lines (though I don't think the monkey is behind it.) The whole thing reeks of WMDs which turned out to be some old mustard gas canisters.

Hmm. I wouldn't be at all surprised if we are supplying the Kurds with some weaponry.

Maybe they're building them with an eye towards exporting.

Hahahaha. I can't help but laugh at the picture and caption in that story.

Iran's Revolutionary Guards are an ideological, well-armed force.
And about the homegrown thing: most likely they are, but they may be getting assistance from outside, too. Especially if they're Kurds. Iran and Turkey both feared the Iran invasion because of the Kurdish issue.

NEW YORK (Reuters) - Despite the Bush administration's insistence it has no plans to go to war with Iran,
a Pentagon panel has been created to plan a bombing attack
that could be implemented within 24 hours of getting the go-ahead from President George W. Bush,
The New Yorker magazine reported in its latest issue.

Well, we can be happy to know that there are some things that they plan for.
