Folks, I don't know how true this is, but it looks like some serious tinder
is gonna be added to the fire !

    excerpt
January 2, 2012. Jerusalem. In one of the most blacked-out stories in America right now, the US military is preparing to send thousands of US troops, along with US Naval anti-missile ships and accompanying support personnel, to Israel.

It took forever to find a second source for confirmation of this story and both relatively mainstream media outlets are in Israel. With one source saying the military deployment and corresponding exercises are to occur in January, the source providing most of the details suggests it will occur later this spring. Calling it not just an “exercise”, but a “deployment”, the Jerusalem Post quotes US Lt.-Gen Frank Gorenc, Commander of the US Third Air Force based in Germany. The US Commander visited Israel two weeks ago to confirm details for “the deployment of several thousand American soldiers to Israel.” In an effort to respond to recent Iranian threats and counter-threats, Israel announced the largest ever missile defense exercise in its history. Now, it’s reported that the US military, including the US Navy, will be stationed throughout Israel, also taking part.

While American troops will be stationed in Israel for an unspecified amount of time, Israeli military personnel will be added to EUCOM in Germany. EUCOM stands for United States European Command.

In preparation for anticipated Iranian missile attacks upon Israel, the US is reportedly bringing its THAAD, Terminal High Altitude Area Defense, and ship-based Aegis ballistic missile systems to Israel. The US forces will join Israeli missile defense systems like the Patriot and Arrow. The deployment comes with “the ultimate goal of establishing joint task forces in the event of a large-scale conflict in the Middle East”.

The Jerusalem Post reports that US Lt.-Gen Frank Gorenc was in Israel meeting with his Israeli counterpart, Brig.-Gen Doron Gavish, commander of the Air Defense Division. While there, the US General visited one of Israel’s three ‘Iron Dome’ anti-missile outposts. The Israeli Air Force has announced plans to deploy a fourth Iron Dome system in the coming months. Additional spending increases in the Jewish state will guarantee the manufacture and deployment of three more Iron Dome
I don't know if this be real, and if so if these are drills, practices, or what it is.

Lord, I bet Obama is going to pi$$ed when he finds out...

What Is at the Root of the Israel-Iran Confrontation?

    http://www.theatlantic.com/internati...tation/252024/

Of course, a few of you may be thinking, "Well, words are words. It's not like Iran is parading Shahab-3 missiles down the streets of Tehran with banners and posters talking about the destruction of Israel, right?"

The base at Prince Sultan International Airport in Saudi Arabia is closed and I believe a number of bases in Iraq have since closed, but your point is taken.

^^^ Not to worry gents. I was assured 3+ years ago by some done nothing senator from IL that "carrots-n-sticks" was the cure for all our Iran issues.

Just two more topics to add to the list of things he has no experience with.

Re: Iran: It's getting serious (merged)

Anyone else think this "leak" is a response to our d*ck with ears presidents administration "leaking" Israel's plans to bomb Iran?

'US to accept civilian nuke program in Iran'
President Obama signals Iran that US would endorse nuclear program if Ayatollah Ali Khamenei backs up claim that Islamic Republic won't purse atom bomb, US paper reports

WASHINGTON - US President Barack Obama has signaled Tehran that the Washington would accept an civilian nuclear program in Iran if Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei can back up his recent claim that his nation “will never pursue nuclear weapons,” the Washington Post reported Friday.

According to the report, the verbal message was sent through Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan, who met with Khamenei last week. A few days prior to leaving for the trip, Erdogan held a two-hour meeting with Obama on the sidelines of the nuclear security summit in Seoul, in which they discussed what the Turkish leader would tell Khamenei about the nuclear issue.

Washington Post columnist David Ignatius wrote that Obama advised Tehran, via Edrogan, that time is running out for a peaceful agreement. Obama didn’t specify whether Iran would be allowed to enrich uranium domestically. The issue evidently is to be discussed during the talks between the Islamic Republic and the West, which are slated start on April 13 at a venue yet to be decided.

    Words into actions
Edrogan is said to have agreed with Obama that the primary challenge faced by the negotiators is turning Khamenei’s public rhetoric into a serious and verifiable commitment not to build a bomb.

Erdogan reportedly conveyed Obama’s message to Khamenei when he met the Iranian leader on Thursday. Erdogan also met President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and other senior Iranian officials during his visit.

Western diplomats remain skeptic about the success of the diplomatic path, especially in light of the recent disagreement over the venue for the upcoming negotiations. According to the report, Istanbul was expected to host the talks, but the Iranians last weekend balked and suggested instead to meet in Iraq or China.

US officials consider this foot-dragging a sign that the Iranian leadership is still formulating its positions ahead of the talks.

Meanwhile, the US pressed on with sanctions that aim to deprive Tehran of revenue needed to develop its nuclear program
Apparently if Iran promises to not pursue nuke weapons our "flexible" SCOAMF will deliver to them the ability to fast track their program.

    Brilliant.

Probably work out about as well as our recent "reset" with NORKO.
US: No shooting off missiles right? And well give you food and stuff
NORKO: Fine by us..start sending stuff now and BTW missles that are used to launch spy stuff is ok right?
US: Well not really but you know..we got our headline that things are better between us now...and Hillary can brag about her foreign policy achievements.

Hmmm. Krauthammer on will Israel will attack Iran or not...given the build yp in naval at the moment

On whether Israel will strike Iran before the US presidential election:
Well, I think they are ready to. They understand that the world is not going to do a thing. They have [faced] this kind of a crisis three times in their history, and each time, ‘48, ‘56, and ‘67, Israel was told “Wait. We’ll take care of it,” and it attacked because it had to save itself. I think it will

^ I would have to agree on the "Nobody else cares" clause. Egypt is neutered, Syria in a state of influx, nothing from Iraq, Pakistan isn't a player. So, who cares?
