Guys, I was about to install a Asus A8R32-MVP Dlx mobo and for many reasons (as bigger security) the wanted OS is Windows 2000. However I was looking at the CD included as hard as I can, then I was looking on the webpage of Asus for this mobo: http://support.asus.com/download/dow...2-MVP%20Deluxe
But I still can't find any chipset related drivers. The mobo is using ATI's™ CrossFire™ Xpress 3200 ( http://www.asus.com/products.aspx?l1...42&modelmenu=1 ) and I'm affraid that I was missing something. After all, there are some chipset drivers for my Grouper (ATI RX480 NB and SB450 chipsets), so...
Anyone know, what to do? Should I just believe that no drivers are need for Win2k, or what?

Yes, I noticed and that was what make me worry a bit. I hope that you are right... Meanwhile I go to the http://ati.amd.com/support/driver.html and there is some drivers for Radeon Xpress 2000 series for Win2k: http://ati.amd.com/support/drivers/2...grated-2k.html
But I'm not really sure if a old GART (2004!) and SouthBridge (spring 2006) drivers can do me any good, but if thigs is not working well with my Win2k, I try these...

I have this board, and you don't need chipset drivers at all. All you need is LAN and sound and RAID (IIRC).
The drivers you listed are for chipset with integrated video. Since it is a PCI-e motherboard, you don't need GART driver. As for southbridge, which is based on the ULI chipset, then alkl you hae to do is to download the latest one from nvidia web site (nvidia bought ULI..) and install the necessary feature if any are needed.
For my friend I making this machine, using the A8R32-MVP Deluxe mobo. So far, it is a mediocre clocker, but should be long-term reliable and stable. But I (and he too) would like to run it on Win2k (Windows 2000) and it seems to work pretty well.
However I could not make the USB card reader work well.
The problem. Friend have a camera with SD card as memory. He use the reader on his old machine (some oldie ECS crap, barely working now) for the camera. He NEED to use it on his new machine too. The reader was working well before, but now it recognize ONLY CF card, not the SD card. (computers should no be able to do that irony...) The USB port on it is working well too, tough. I connected it to the Asus A8R32-MVP DLX front USB ports on mainboard and it simply refuse to work
I also do wonder, witch XP SP version one can use?
For Win2k they require SP4 - and I wonder how can to dodge that. Perhaps some form of "emulator" that fake the system to look like SP4? Or patch them somehow?
I must say that this is a very big disapointment and I did not want use SP4, as it has much more holes and security flaws (not to mention bloat) over SP2, witch is proven to work reliably and well. (not to mention fastest)
The second issue is, that the install simply require latest SP, witch is SP4 for Win2k and we did not want that. How to avoid that???

If the SATA controller is set to emulate PATA mode (or something like that), no drivers are required. front usb problem most of the time is because of non USB2 compliant wire, especially on cheap case. And the ECS card reader, IIRC, is meant to be used only on ECS motherboard. Better get an universal card reader. Poor overclocking mostly depend of cheap/insufficient PSU.
The motherboard DONT HAVE INTEGRATED VIDEO, SO NO DRIVERS FOR CHIPSET.
Anmd no, you cannot avoid to not install SP4 for SATA drives..
So, this motherboard don't have any problem, you just don't have the right component to get it properly running.
George, you get it all wrong
No SATA used at all. PATA only. Not a cheap case and the USB ports worked well anyway, it was the one SD card part of the readed that did not... NO ESC reader, but on ESC mainboard. Universal reader used. No cheap PSU, but Enermax Liberty 620W one. Mainboard even w/o integrated video usualy require some chipset drivers for the OS can properly utilize them... Once again, no SATA used, so no SP4 (by YOUR definition) need.
So, as you know now, I have the right stuff, but still the cursed sound drivers require XP or at least SP4, witch suxx. Mine X-Fi can operate well using SP2 Win2k w/o flaws, so I see no reason for the special patch, need to install first before audio install is made, to require SP4...
But when I installed the SP4, audio and even the reader start completely working and working well... And there is still the little ACPI driver for chipset for Win2k (not need and all working when I tried XP SP1.0a as well) ...
So, this mobo is forcing everyone to unnecessary high and useless bloated and bugged SP4. Clearly buyers beware thing to mention.
PS. I also updated bios prior to XP and later SP4 Win2k install, so... It might contribute to something as well.
Important information is, that the LAN1 NIC is on top of the mobo, while LAN2 is the bottom NIC connector on the A8R32-MVP DLX mainboard. In bios, after the bios update to 0602 bios (shipping was 0404 for me) the LAN testing page showing the TOP NIC port as LAN2, while the bottom one are LAN1 - effectively reversed to what the real-life situation is.
Futhermore I wanted to know, witch one is the PCIe one, and witch one is on PCI bus. PCI bus is, of course, slower and with latency delays. Not such thing exist in PCIe, so I wanted use that LAN port (both are Gigabite ones), witch is sitting on the PCIe bus.
After some experiements (this is NOT menion in the mobo guide!) I find out that it is the LAN1, that is using PCIe connection and chip type Marvell 88E8053
Hooray for that!
