Yes, there were two 20$ rebates, one instant, one MIR. Looks like the first one is gone now. :|

Too bad. I think I would have paid $50 for that.

Is that a good card at all? How does it compare to the Audigy family? I still use an old SBLive (4 ch.), has been good enough for all these years, but I might consider getting something (way) better in the future.

I'm using a SBLIVE 5.1 myself for many years. I hear the X-Fi is pretty nice. Beware the cheaper version of the card. Apparently they named it the X-Fi but it's not really a true X-Fi. Look at this newegg listing. The card for $65.99 is NOT a true X-Fi. Read the user comments. The one that this thread is about is the second one $89.99 - $20 rebate.

Looks like Buy.com has a better deal on the X-Fi XtremeGamer. Only $65 with free shipping and NO rebate. Newegg is $77 shipped after the $20 rebate.

What exactly do you mean, Lenny? Whats is a "true X-Fi", or in other words, what should I expect of it IF it were a true X-Fi?

All I know is from reading the user comments. It seems the cheaper version uses a different audio chipset and even different drivers. The chip is from an older series of cards like Audigy or maybe SB - I can't remember exactly. Based on what I read on the user comments I would simply avoid the cheaper card if you are planning to use it for gaming.

I'm in for one also, I'm glad I won't have to plug and unplug my speakers/headphones anymore.

Why not? Is there a separate connection for both?

I am currently using a Audigy 2 and have to plug and unplug headphones when I want to use them for gaming because my front panel audio will not work with the audigy because there is no connector on the board. With this card, it has a front panel audio connector so I can just unplug my headphones from the front panel and have the speakers work. Luckily my case has the audio plug and loose cables so I can connect it if it isn't plug compatable.
