    Correct Kernel for Conroe?

So my Intel Core 2 Duo system is here and running fairly smooth. I have Debian Etch installed and the latest kernel I could find and install was:

    Code:
    cwilliams@slave:~/Desktop$ uname -a
    Linux 2.6.18-3-686 #1 SMP Mon Dec 4 16:41:14 UTC 2006 i686 GNU/Linux
When I run top or htop, I see both cores as if I did on my old P4 system with HT enabled.

Right now the machine feels pretty snappy however I am not sure if it could run better or what you guys recommend for this E6300.

    Code:
    cwilliams@slave:~/Desktop$ cat /proc/cpuinfo

    Re: Correct Kernel for Conroe?

If you're seeing both cores, then everything's good

Other than running an smp-enabled kernel, there's not much more to it with regards processors. It's more support in the kernel for chipsets on the motherboard to be concerned with, like if all the onboard ports and features are detected and work correctly. There, running the latest kernel will help with new hardware like conroe motherboards.

Cool - I guess everything is well then.
