Just wondering. I want it to be free of smears and stains.

Super, thx. Crap, wish i read this earlier. I applied pressure when I first tried to clean it (with undiluted alcohol) and now i have a few small streaks. You cant notice it when the screen is turned on, but still. damn

I have found 1 drop of water on a towel is best.
You do not want any chemicals on the screen.
can of hairspray and a lighter, burns all the dirt right off!

Don't press down too hard on the LCD.
Use a cotton towel. The alcohol dries super fast, so those streaks might just be some dried dirt streaks of dirty alcohol+dirt.... I hope.
Cut the alcohol 50% with water as the article suggested, then get the towel damp, and go over it again. Keep wiping with a clean section of the towel a few times, then dry it quickly with another towel.

does it work with laptop lcds as well??
Laptop LCD's are still LCD's
I use a commercial LCD spray and also a microfibre cloth. I find the spray helps dissipate persistent spots (meaning less pressure required to remove them) and the microfibre is smooth enough not to scratch the screen either.

I LOVE the products that this company carries.. and I will swear by them..
If you dont mind spending the money (the product will last a VERY long time) get the following...
OmniCleanz with Optex Polishing cloth.. It will run about 10 bucks..
This stuff is great.. It will even take out scuffs in your LCD screen if needed...
And if you have a laptop get the ScreenSavrs cloth..!...

I use either Sprayaway or Clearvue glass cleaner on mine. They both work great and if they do leave streaks they can easily be removed by a dry towel.
lucky to find this article. i usually wipe my lcd with a wet tissue and then follow up with a dry one. i used to wash my old laptop screen (long time back)
