Re: Which CD-R media brand to get?

Imation or Ridatas. They're usually manufactured in the same factory (Taiyo Yuden) and have had a good track record with compatibility. I believe the quality of the media and the factories they're made at can be found at http://www.cdmediaworld.com

I think Ridata is fine, too. Also, like Soundforbtj, I prefer to use Fuji as much as possible. But will spring for Sony when can't be found. Ridata, when I'm thinking about it, and browsing the egg.

I have never had a memorex media that was not extremely low quality.

I've been using TDK for cd-r media for about 7 years now with no problem. Fuji for dvd media for 2 years and just started trying Sony for dvds and no problems with either. I had trouble reading a Verbatim cd-r once so I don't know if that's of any use here. Made me stay away from that brand.

I used to not have trouble, but then I started getting problems with the usual. I got Verbatim and didn't have trouble. I use Sony for my DVD-RW's, but I've had no trouble with Verbatim yet...but I had trouble with TDK, Memorex (which used to be fine before), Imation...which surprised me. Anyway, all said and done, I'll stick with Verbatim since it's easily available around my area.

It seems, to me, imation is the best balance between price and availability.
Not the best, not the worst, just about right

Although, the CD/DVD burners and software would also play a role in here too. The Window XP software (Roxio) seems to be good to me, not the Roxio Creator (again, to me and it was a older version too). I endup bought the Nero 7 and I like it now (yeah, I agree, too much garbage, but nonetheless, the burner works great). I am using NEC hardware (and the updated DL firmware).
