Found a NB cooler for DS3

    http://www.thermaltake.com/product/C...4/cl-c0034.asp

Picked this up at Micro Center this morning. Installed it pretty easily. It has adjustable clips so it will fit the non standard holes. Also fits with the big Zalman 120mm HSF on the CPU.

Check it out if your looking for a different NB cooler for your DS3.

Did you notice any difference in your fsb overclocking or stability?

    Here you go...

Everything seems to be nice and stable. Before I added the new NB HSF, my temps were going into the 50's.

This is with just a slight bump in voltage to the CPU, NB, and RAM. The RAM is 4 sticks of 512mb Nanya PC2 4200.

I need to run Orthos for a bit longer. It ran for 4 hours this morning on the default heatsink with no fan with no errors, but the temps were in the mid 50's. Idle temp is 18-20c.

Oh yeah, and I put AS5 on that puppy. What is that crap Giga put on there? It didn't want to come off.

I actually was just going to the store to buy a fan to install on the stock heatsink. Was going to use Mr.Novi's method, and apply it with some clear rtv silicone rubber adhesive I picked up at Napa. Then I found this puppy just sitting there. It was the only one, and I snatched it up. I purchased the fan as well, just in case this thing didn't work out. I am happy I did, because I really like it. Seems to make things run about 6-7 degrees cooler.

It was $22.99 at Micro Center in Cincinnati.

Holy crap! That's the same nb cooler I have in my biostar. Yeah, it works great, as it's extremely adjustable. Below is a link to a picture of my biostar system. You can see this cooler just below the zalman cpu cooler. As it turned out, they match, both are copper with blue leds. It makes for an attractive combo.

    Update:

I have been folding two instances of the Windows client all day with zero errors. Temps are at 32c.

I would never have even thought I could get this kind of overclock with the stock setup. I am even surprised my RAM is running this good. It is 533mhz RAM running @ 600mhz. I don't know how much this NB cooler has to do with it, but I am guessing it ain't hurtin!

How hard was it to take off the stock nb hsf? On my biostar board, it was a pain, and I actually thought I had damaged it. I probably should have run the board for a while before removing it. But anyway, how was it to remove it from the DS3? Thanks.

BTW, my tt cooler is very quiet. I probably should post a review of it on newegg, which is where I bought it.

It took me all of 15 seconds to get mine off.

If you already have the mobo out of the case it takes no time at all.

Yeah, it didn't take long. But that "compound" they had on there was stuck pretty good. I just twisted it a little and it poped right off.

Did you let the board run for a while first, heating it up?
