$5.25 an hour at a local pet store. I worked a good 25 to 30 hours per week too. Nothing like walkin around with a pocketful of money at 15 years old.

    Re: An age check

I used to get about $40AUD a week for delivering the daily rag. 5 days a week for four years. Started when I was 11. Used to take over an hour in the first year but I nailed that down to under 25 mins in subsequent years. Averages out to somewhere between $8 and $16/hr.

I also used to mow lawns on weekends and often serviced mowers for extra $$. All up, that'd probably work out to about $10 an hour. On top of that I used to collect aluminium cans and recycle them for cash. That probably worked out to just under $5 an hour. In a good week I'd make $100+. Did all of that up until I was 15.

Friend and I went 50/50 on a great snowblower/other and ended up with a local route that was worth 600-700 or something with every snowfall.
And in Connecticut thats just about all winter.

Had a paper route in 1972 when I was 12. Made about $6 or $7 per week.

Picking grapes in the fields around Fresno. Basically, you laid a 2' by 3' paper on the ground, and picked enough to get it about 4" deep, about 3 or 4" in from the edges, so they could dry in the sun to become raisins. Seven cents.

I did it each summer from age six to nine, making about four bucks in a 10-hour day.

    I still cannot stand raisins.

$1.10 an hour for a 60 hour work week ,pumping gas in 1966 for 19.9cents a gallon. No time and a half back then. BUT a REAL NICE perk, was a dealers plate for my car.

Back around 1980 I was getting $20.00 to wash out cattle trailers where my stepdad worked. Kind of nasty, but they provided a pit and fire hose. Took about two hours tops, so figure about 10/hr. Not bad for that time and being 13-14 years old. A few drivers would even throw in a few extra bucks as a tip.

    Im an Air Force Brat,

Travel the world, see the sights, learn new languages and customs, yada yada yada..

My first job was cutting yards on various air force bases I was probably 9-10 yrs old.

I pushed my dads mower loaded down with edger(the manual kind for you old schoolers ) rake and gargbage bags up and down the streets on base and cut yards for 5-10 dollas per yard.

To this day the smell of a freshly cut yard brings back those days

    Beat me to it...

2003, I made $6.55 an hour at a grocery store, put in about 20-25 hours during school and 30-40 during summer. That job was truly a love/hate relationship.

Eventually got promoted to assistant front-end manager, but then we closed up shop (along with the rest of the chain)
