Need advice on which MB to buy

Hi, I am in the market to purchase an ASUS motherboard but I want to make sure that the components I have will be compatible with the board before I buy it (mainly the ram and video card) Here are my specs:

    1Gig Kingston DDR2 667 Mhz Ram (KVR667D2N5/1G)
    1 Gig PNY DDR2 667 Mhz Ram (PC2-5300 64AOTFTHE-HS)
2 160Gig SATA HDD Seagate Barricuda set to RAID 0
    Intel Pentium D 3.2 Processor
    Seasonic S12 600W ATX12V Power Supply
HIS Radeon X1650 Pro IceQ/512MB GDDR2/PCIe video card
    Zalman CNPS9500 LED CPU Heatsink

Which board would be compatable with the RAM that I have? Also, I only need one PCIe slot. I cant seem to get any definitive answers on other forums. Thank you for your time. Jim

    Welcome to the forums!
What sort of budget are you looking at?
Almost anything in the P5B series would probably work well for you if you are interested in staying with Asus, which I assume since you are posting this in the Asus section!
The mis-matched ram might or might not be a problem, but that would be true with any motherboard.
So let us know your budget and we will see what we can do for you.

I would like to stay around $150 but may consider a little more.
I saw on NewEgg that they had the higher end versions of the P5B boards for sale listed as "open box" Should I stay away from these or are they usually still reliable?

Personally I would stay away from "open-box" motherboards. The MB is just too important of a component, and if you get no-start issues when you build it which are not uncommon, it just makes troubleshooting that much harder.

OK, I took the plunge and just bought the
ASUS P5B Deluxe/WiFi-AP LGA 775 Intel P965 Express ATX Intel Motherboard -on NewEgg ($197). I also purchased a Celeron D 2.8ghz ($38) in case I need to flash the bios. Anything special I should know about this board? Just want to make sure everything goes smoothly once I start the build. I did read in reviews that the first thing to do is upgrade the bios once after windows is loaded. Do you agree with this?
    Currently have Intel 945Gpm MB
Will be changing to an ASUS P5b soon
