    IMHO neither crossfire of SLI is worth it. The amount you have to spend on a second video card should be put away for future upgrades If you want to go AM2 the new MSI boards are pretty solid performers.

    I have used the MSI K9N Platinum on several builds and it has performed fantastic. Very easy to set up and no problems with anything I threw at it.

    Granted, this is an SLI board so you can save some bucks by going after the Neo -F

    Both are great boards and perform very well.

    Do you game a lot? If you do, I would look at upgrading the 9550.

    The Ultra-F is a similar board to the second link I posted. It has only 6 channel audio and 1 PATA connector.

    IMHO the Neo-F is the better buy. It has the 550MCP which is a better chipset and a true NForce550. The Ultra-F is a revamped NForce 4.

    I don't think SLI/Crossfire is worth the expense either but that's a decision you have to make for yourself.

    I'd buy a K9N Diamond or K9N Platinum... Both are great boards.

    The Neo-F and Diamond/Platinum are worlds apart. If you have the cash you know what I recommend.

    Ditto for K9N Plat.. I am a gamer, and this has been a stable board, I didn't even bother with overclocking.

    I went with the GeForce but won't be using it SLI..

    Good luck.

    first, thank you guys for all the help. i'm maybe missing something, i used the side by side at new egg, there doesnt seem to be much difference between the 3, mainly crossfire or sli or neo -having niether. if crossfire and sli arnt really worth it why not get the neo? again unless i am missing something

    You better look again because there is a huge difference between the K9N Diamond/Platinum and the K9N4 Ultra-F.

    * Chipsets
    * # of SATA
    * Audio
    * Dual LAN
    * DIMM slots
    * SLI
    * IEEE 1394

    an MSI mobo I like the quality of MSI motherboards, mainly the nForce mobo's with an SLI option for later when needed, I don't particulary need SLI at the moment however it would be cool to make use of it later

    Re: looking to upgrade to am2, what board?

    I'd run at least one 1GB DDR2. It's got two DIMM and that's all you will need.

    You can save alot of money by going with the Neo board if you don't want the extra SATA or 1394.
