    NASA refused to release the results. Miskolczi believes their motivation is simple. "Money", he tells DailyTech. Research that contradicts the view of an impending crisis jeopardizes funding, not only for his own atmosphere-monitoring project, but all climate-change research. Currently, funding for climate research tops $5 billion per year.

    Miskolczi resigned in protest, stating in his resignation letter, "Unfortunately my working relationship with my NASA supervisors eroded to a level that I am not able to tolerate. My idea of the freedom of science cannot coexist with the recent NASA practice of handling new climate change related scientific results."

    His theory was eventually published in a peer-reviewed scientific journal in his home country of Hungary.

    The conclusions are supported by research published in the Journal of Geophysical Research last year from Steven Schwartz of Brookhaven National Labs, who gave statistical evidence that the Earth's response to carbon dioxide was grossly overstated. It also helps to explain why current global climate models continually predict more warming than actually measured.

    ^^^ A common theme with MMGW jihadists and their multi-BILLION dollar snake oil business. Fudge the numbers.. hide the real science under a nice thick layer of media "the end is nigh" films and ads.

    Minor details.. but they are sure C02 will kill us all. Even though all the major Kyoto signatory's are emitting more C02 now than when they signed. Yet we have not experienced and appreciable warming since the 90's. This is the point where I'd usually tell someone to go sharpen their pencil... but the fact is those trying to force feed MMGW down our throats already know it's a sham.

    Of course it will be put into the equation... as a by product of MMGW. You see.. everything we used to call "weather" or the earths natural heating and cooling is now an end effect of MMGW.

    Earth cooling = MMGW
    Earth warming = MMGW
    Earth neither warming or cooling = MMGW
    Floods = MMGW
    Drought= MMGW
    Recoed polar ice = MMGW
    Lack of polar ice= MMGW
    Hurricanes = MMGW
    Lack of hurricanes = MMGW

    Nice theme eh?

    I think France is actually creating LESS CO2 than when they signed... all that Nuclear Power. I wonder if they factor in the heat generated by the radiating spent nuclear piles when they work up Global Warming numbers 'nStuff... Nah, probably insignificant. In any case, France may be bucking that trend, so you can't say ALL Kyoto signers are creating more.

    Actually I think they are emitting more now.. pretty sure I posted that up a few pages back. Gimme a check..

    Yea, don't ya just love it! I can't wait to see Al Gore trying to explain away all this snow that's falling across Texas in March! Not to mention all the other snow most of the US and the world had this winter. Snow in Baghdad...it's because of global warming!

    Re: The Great Global Warming Swindle

    This is what Wikki has to say about who is meeting their "obligations" under Kyoto... though it's about 4 years out of date only spanning 1990~2004. Though from what I have read around.. it does look like France is indeed meeting their obligations.

    Increase in greenhouse gas emission since 1990

    Kyoto Schmyoto

    Kyoto Schmyoto
    Randall Hoven
    One would think that countries that committed to the Kyoto treaty are doing a better job of curtailing carbon emissions. One would also think that the United States, the only country that does not even intend to ratify, keeps on emitting carbon dioxide at growth levels much higher than those who signed.

    And one would be wrong.

    The Kyoto treaty was agreed upon in late 1997 and countries started signing and ratifying it in 1998. A list of countries and their carbon dioxide emissions due to consumption of fossil fuels is available from the U.S. government. If we look at that data and compare 2004 (latest year for which data is available) to 1997 (last year before the Kyoto treaty was signed), we find the following.

    * Emissions worldwide increased 18.0%.
    * Emissions from countries that signed the treaty increased 21.1%.
    * Emissions from non-signers increased 10.0%.
    * Emissions from the U.S. increased 6.6%.

    In fact, emissions from the U.S. grew slower than those of over 75% of the countries that signed Kyoto. Below are the growth rates of carbon dioxide emissions, from 1997 to 2004, for a few selected countries, all Kyoto signers. (Remember, the comparative number for the U.S. is 6.6%.)

    * Maldives, 252%.
    * Sudan, 142%.
    * China, 55%.
    * Luxembourg, 43%
    * Iran, 39%.
    * Iceland, 29%.
    * Norway, 24%.
    * Russia, 16%.
    * Italy, 16%.
    * Finland, 15%.
    * Mexico, 11%.
    * Japan, 11%.
    * Canada, 8.8%.

    World and U.S. opinion seems to revolve around who signed Kyoto rather than actual carbon dioxide emissions. Once again, stated intent trumps actual results. Can even the global warming believers possibly believe this treaty has anything to do with it?

    Update: In response to a reader request, here is a link to the table showing increases in absolute numbers, not percentages.

    Yet despite the world wide INCREASE in OMFG carbon dioxide!!... There has been no appreciable warming since 1990. How is that possible if the MMGW C02 boogeyman theory is correct...??

    I've got it!! It must be MMGW!!

    The other side of the coin..

    NY Climate Conference: Journey to the Center of Warming Sanity

    If you rely solely on the mainstream media to keep informed, you may not have heard that the 2008 International Conference on Climate Change concluded in New York City on Tuesday. And if you have heard anything -- this being primarily a forum of skeptics -- it was likely of a last gasp effort by "flat-Earthers" sponsored by right-wingers in the pockets of big-oil to breathe life into their dying warming denial agenda. Well, having just returned from the 3 day event, I'm happy to report that the struggle against the ravages of warming alarmism is not only alive, but healthier than ever.

    Granting a long overdue forum to noted dissenting scientists, economists and policy experts from around the world, the Heartland Institute-sponsored symposium at the Marriott Marquis offered welcomed reasoned analysis as alternative to last December's hysterical circus which was Bali. It also served as the perfect launch point for a long-awaited un-IPCC report -- Nature, Not Human Activity, Rules the Climate: Summary for Policymakers of the Report of the Nongovernmental International Panel on Climate Change [PDF].

    Compiling the work of over 20 prominent fellow researchers, editor Fred Singer's NIPCC report distinguishes itself from the recent IPCC Fourth Assessment (AR4) and its predecessors in that it was not pre-programmed to "support the hypotheses of anthropogenic warming (AGW) and the control of greenhouse gases." Instead, the nearly 50 page document is a non-political authoritative rebuttal to the multi-government controlled IPCC's "errors and outright falsehoods" regarding warming's measurement, likely drivers, and overall impact.

    And its ultimate conclusion of "natural causes and a moderate warming trend with beneficial effects for humanity and wildlife" set the perfect framework for speakers and panelists - many of whom contributed to the NIPCC -- to elaborate on the summit's "Global warming is not a crisis" theme.

    Gore Invests $35 Million for Hedge Funds With EBay Billionaire

    March 6 (Bloomberg) -- Former U.S. Vice President Al Gore left the White House seven years ago with less than $2 million in assets, including a Virginia home and the family farm in Tennessee. Now he's making enough to put $35 million in hedge funds and other private partnerships.

    Gore invested the money with Capricorn Investment Group LLC, a Palo Alto, California, firm that selects the private funds for clients and invests in makers of environmentally friendly products, according to a Feb. 1 securities filing. Capricorn was founded by billionaire Jeffrey Skoll, former president of EBay Inc. and an executive producer of Gore's Oscar-winning documentary film on global warming.

    Good for Gore ,now he can give back to the starving masses worldwide.The problem is, if we're going into a cold spell due to lower solar energy,with widespread crop losses like last year,theres going to be a lot of pissed off people worldwide who will have an understandable lack of faith in science and scientists.Even those with workable solutions.History will be repeating itself.People will always have someone or something to blame when things go wrong.

    The resistance to publish by NASA is also interesting. Maybe its time for that institution to quit playing politiks with science and to resume space exploration.

    So what happened to Venus, where CO2 levels have become so high the surface temp is several times higher than the Earths. It isn't just because it is closer to the Sun either.

    Good question. That article I linked claims the data from Venus is kinda lacking. Maybe the Venetians are polluting son'sobitches.

    The comparison between Venus and Earth is a lot worse than just apples and oranges. Yes, CO2 concentrations are heavy on Venus... so heavy that it is in liquid form on the surface. But the atmosphere on Venus is many magnitudes thicker than here on Earth...

    In the upper atmosphere, Sulfuric acid and SO2 is so strong that it reflects 75% of the sunlight back out into space... that's one reason Venus is so bright in our night sky. But the end result is that the surface of Venus gets less energy from the sun as light and heat than the Earth does. However, the density of the atmosphere is what allows the 'runaway' greenhouse effect. The atmosphere on Venus is at the same pressure that you would find on Earth... a Kilometer below the surface of the Ocean! In the article that Dutch posted, it was the LACK of a thick atmosphere at altitude on Earth that PREVENTS just such an effect.

    I'm not sure if this is scientific evidence about Global Warming, but it's something to consider.
