Re: The SuperPI Hall of Fame

With my bus speed now 200, I got 2:02.562.

I tried turning the DRAM command rate up from 2 to 1T, but actually got a slightly slower time: 2:02.922

Next up, I'm fiddling with UCLK:

Those runs were at 3208 (RAM is at 1600)

    3408 gives 2:01.641

    3609 gives 2:01.437

Over the next few days we'll have to see what this new stepping is capable of on basic air cooling.

I've been toying with the idea of buying another Core2 Quad system... they're about $500 now. But that speed is insane... and you're making me reconsider...

i7 Quads ARE pricey, but... dayum.

I don't think this chip is quite done yet! Maybe some water cooling is in order.

Very impressive My backup isn't even close to that. Is that by any chance one of the new D0 stepping?

Yes, as a matter of fact it is the new D0 stepping. The chip itself is much more effecient. If anybody was waiting to buy an i7 becuase of the apparent 4.0 GHz barrier, those reasons are now squelched. Just remeber to look for the product code of SLBEJ to ensure that you're getting the right thing.

Shaved another 1.5s off. Shortly thereafter the video card failed and then the driver reloaded. It is definitely not very stable at a FSB of 216. Alas, I'm out of time this weekend.

You should be able to get that ram a lot higher or maybe tighten up a little. I'm ordering a D0 step to play with and upgrade the farm this week so maybe I'll have some new ammo soon.
