should be interesting to see the benchmarks on the two.

    Re: DreamCatcher's Opty 165

    The 320 / 133 = 2.88GHz had a "core" 0 stop at 3 hrs 52 mins. went to 319 / 133 and "core" 1 crashed at 32 mins ( ) currently 318 / 133 has been running since about 17:00 and still going when I left for work.

ud, what would you suggest for "free" benchies?

    Re: DreamCatcher's Opty 165

    The 318 / 133 @ 2T = 2.864GHz “Bootable” ran for over 15 hrs.

Currently have PCMarks ’05 on the system so thought I’d give that a try until I have time to deal with ud suggestions. I’ve listed below the results, however I don’t understand (trust?) two of them. Can’t imagine that the 294 / 133 @ 1T is Prime stable (paranoia!?!) as I can find any screenies of the test. Also I find it hard to believe the PCMarks value of the 318 / 133 @ 2T. Currently I’m running the dual Prime test and will do the PCMarks over after that.

    274 / 166 @ 1T = 2.47Ghz “Bootable” >> 2380

    294 / 133 @ 1T = 2.645GHz “Bootable” >> 2504

    310 / 166 @ 2T = 2.790GHz “Bootable” >> 2603

    318 / 133 @ 2T = 2.864GHz “Bootable” >> 1552 ????

EDIT: These scores will seem pitiful to some, however just remember the GPU in the test is the onboard 6100

    Re: DreamCatcher's Opty 165

Been trying to figure out what I'm looking at when I run Sandra Lite, but I'm a little dense on that for now.....hope to have something out soon.

On another topic - heat - desided to button up DC to see if things would shut down. Running Orthos and have the system set at 310 / 166 @ 2T = 2.790GHz “Bootable”.

The case at ambiant rm temp showed 19C at boot up before I closed it. At idle and closed "core temp" showed the cores in the mid 20sC, case temp rose to low 20s. After 2 hours of running the cores are upper 50s low 60s (bios shutdown is 60, so?) with case temp showing 27C. MBM5 shows a single temp of 55 - 58.

Over the last week or so I’ve been trying to figure out what I have using Sandra……. and I’m really feeling DUMB! For me it seems they didn’t make it easy like PCMarks. PCM you hit one button and it supposedly does it all for a “total” score. With Sandra it appears to be a bunch of individual tests (which for the experts is better?) but I’m not sure what I’m looking at/for. Also it seems that they are only testing the “primary” core and not dual….”Turn on multi-processor option. You need to use the Windows XP / Vista processor kernel…” but I can’t figure that out either. Really hate being so software challenged. Anyway ran 4 tests on the 166 – 1T / 2T & 133 – 1T / 2T and will show the screenies, so maybe you can tell me what I’m seeing. All I want is to determine which of my four “bootable” settings is the most “efficient” and have a number(s) to compare with the 175 I have so as to make a choice.

Ran the following tests 1. Processor Multi-Media, 2. Multi-Core Efficiency (testing only one core ), 3. Memory Latency, 4. Memory Bandwidth (Oh BTW it identifies the PC4000 as 3000!)

    274 / 166 @ 1T = 2.47Ghz

    310 / 166 @ 2T = 2.790GHz

    294 / 133 @ 1T = 2.645GHz

    Memory Bandwidth 133 @ 1T = MIA

    318 / 133 @ 2T = 2.864GHz

And another thing, if I'm not know most of the choices Sandra gives for comparison - how do I know what the hell to pick?????????

Besides PCMarks what would you suggest for a "simple" performace check for the simple minded?

    Re: DreamCatcher's Opty 165

ud suggested CrystalMarks but went totally brain dead with that also as when I downloaded, it appeared to be three seperate tests. To me they seemed to be more graphics oriented than anything else and I'm currently just testing with the on board 6100.

Would like to understand what it takes to make Sandra run dual core though!

Think I've got too much going on so I'll be "terminating" testing for a while and read up on these things. Hopefully I'll be able to get back to testing in two weeks or so!

    Re: DreamCatcher's Opty 165

these are the three you would be interested in when using crystal mark.

    ALU 7760
    FPU 10085
    MEM 3176

pcmark05 looks to be very similar as far as the different hardware test as does crystal mark. i tried setting it up on my main rig but it complained i didn't have all the necessary stuff, so i told it to stuff itself.

Oh, my poor 6100GPU!!! Cinebench is beating it all to hell…… it will be interesting to see what the 6150 on the nView does as well as a friend’s Biostar Tf7125...or when I get around to install my evga 8800GT Superclocked!

    274 / 166 @ 1T = 2.47Ghz
    2088 CB-CPU ( x1 ), 4101 CB-CPU ( x2 ), 858 CB-GFX

    310 / 166 @ 2T = 2.790GHz
    2367 CB-CPU ( x1 ), 4622 CB-CPU ( x2 ), 882 CB-GFX

    294 / 133 @ 1T = 2.645GHz
    2187 CB-CPU ( x1 ), 4277 CB-CPU ( x2 ), 837 CB-GFX

    318 / 133 @ 2T = 2.864GHz
    2401 CB-CPU ( x1 ), 4660 CB-CPU ( x2 ), 852 CB-GFX

Also finally figured out what I was doing wrong with CrystalMark so here is what I got there:

    274 / 166 @ 1T = 2.47Ghz > CrystalMark 79278

    310 / 166 @ 2T = 2.790GHz > CrystalMark 86038

    294 / 133 @ 1T = 2.645GHz > CrystalMark 80261

    318 / 133 @ 2T = 2.864GHz > CrystalMark 84150

When it was all said and done (excluding Sandra) it seems the 310 / 166 @2T won with PCM & CM. For whatever reason CB liked the 318 / 133 @ 2T. The fact that the 2T setting took the prise considering G. Skill usually scores better at 1T.

So I’m done here now on to other things when I get back off of vacation (30th Anniv.!).

    glad that's settled!

would hate to picture the two of you hand in hand, walking the beach as the sun colors the sky pink at sunrise and the waves rolling onto the shore, with hobbi thinking about overclocking his biostar.
