Question How Long Has Your Audigy Card Lasted?

A new poll asking how long has your audigy card lasted I was considering in getting a X-FI since my board only has 6 channel audio. But I have yet to see if the nForce4 chipset problem and the card has been resolved.

You can still vote if the card is in use in a older system and it's multiple choice just incase you have bought multiple cards.

Re: How Long Has Your Audigy Card Lasted?

I have had my SB Live 5.1 Platinum for 6 years and it's working well in my second workstation now.

That nforce4/X-fi problem only applies to XtremeMusic/Platinum edition and certain motherboards with specific BIOS versions. Most nforce4 users with x-fi don't have any issues.

I have an Audigy Z so can't say about x-fi but most have no issues. Some issue with some Games and creative drivers.

I have an Audigy, an Audigy 2 ZS and an Audigy 2 ZS Notebook. Haven't had any problems with any of them. The Audigy has been happy on two seperate boards with the infamous 686B southbridge. The Audigy 2 ZS is currently on an nForce4 board and no problems.

I still use my old SBLive! (not the later 5.1 ch model), and I guess that's been over 10 years already.

Re: How Long Has Your Audigy Card Lasted?

I've had a Live Platinum, 4.1 and 5.1 versions, audigy LS, and Audigy platinum. Never had issues with any. Even when using an 0404 in the same system as the Audigy in which both pretty much use the same drivers.

I find that when you follow directions exactly as needed things work out well. Maybe I've just been fortunate. Never really had major issues that I couldn't solve except for once with a MOTU pci 324 card and an Nforce 3 chipset.

Using an Audigy Platinum with an Nforce4 ultra chipset now.

I still have a Live!, Live 5.1, original Audigy, and a Turtle Beach Santa Cruz.

These all range from 5 to 8 years old

If Turtle Beach released drivers for Vista I would be using that card right now.

I am trying to work out the difference between the X-FI Audio card and the Music version the audio card is £25 while the Music is £50.

    X-FI 7.1 Audio £25

    X-FI 7.1 Music £50

I would just like to upgrade from onboard to a card that will provide good quality sound for MP3's, DVD's and games.

The XtremeAudio edition is not a true X-fi card. It uses software to simulate all the X-fi effects.

The XtremeMusic OTOH comes with all the X-fi goodies found on the higher end models.
