new arrivas from guess where? shit whole countries at trump's invitation. maybe future americans.

Record number of African migrants coming to Mexican border

Undaunted by a dangerous journey over thousands of miles, people fleeing economic hardship and human rights abuses in African countries are coming to the U.S.-Mexico border in unprecedented numbers, surprising Border Patrol agents more accustomed to Spanish-speaking migrants.

Officials in Texas and even Maine are scrambling to absorb the sharp increase in African migrants. They are coming to America after flying across the Atlantic Ocean to South America and then embarking on an often harrowing overland journey.

In one recent week, agents in the Border Patrol’s Del Rio sector stopped more than 500 African migrants found walking in separate groups along the arid land after splashing across the Rio Grande, children in tow.

That is more than double the total of 211 African migrants who were detained by the Border Patrol along the entire 2,000-mile (3,200-kilometer) U.S.-Mexico border in the 2018 fiscal year.

“We are continuing to see a rise in apprehensions of immigrants from countries not normally encountered in our area,” said Raul Ortiz, head of the U.S. Border Patrol’s Del Rio sector.
The explosion in immigration to the United States from sub-Saharan Africa coincides with a steep drop in the migration flow across the Mediterranean to Europe after European countries and two main embarkation points — Turkey and Libya — decided to crack down. From Jan. 1 to June 12, only 24,600 migrants arrived in Europe by sea, compared to 99,600 over the same period in 2017, according to the International Organization for Migration.

But IOM spokesman Joel Millman doubts the migrant path for Africans has swung over from Europe to America.

Pombo, who was a teacher in Congo, learned in an internet search and by asking around that Portland is good place for migrants. He said his next step is to start rebuilding a life for himself and his family.

“I’d like to feel safe. I’d like to build a decent life,” he said. “I need to start again.”

A resurgence in shithole countries during the Obama clusterphuk...

Another candyassed maggot leaves a gigantic mess behind for a republican president to clean up and take the blame for.

Your hero's legacy can be summed up as: "How did a man who took office espousing a new era of engagement with the world end up a spectator to this century's greatest humanitarian catastrophe?"

    pop a vein.

Massachusetts federal judge blocks ICE from making civil immigration arrests inside state's courthouses

A federal judge in Massachusetts on Thursday blocked federal authorities from making civil immigration arrests inside the state's courthouses.
US District Judge Indira Talwani issued a preliminary injunction that blocks US Immigration and Customs Enforcement and the Department of Homeland Security "from civilly arresting parties, witnesses, and others attending Massachusetts courthouses on official business while they are going to, attending, or leaving the courthouse," according to the court order.

The order follows a lawsuit from Middlesex County District Attorney Marian Ryan and Suffolk County District Attorney Rachael Rollins, the Committee for Public Counsel Services -- Massachusetts' public defender agency, and advocacy group Chelsea Collaborative. It also comes after a Massachusetts judge and a former court officer were accused in April of helping a twice-deported undocumented defendant elude immigration authorities by slipping out a rear courthouse door.

The district attorneys' "claim that ICE civil arrests in state courthouses, the sole forum in which they can prosecute cases, are hindering the DAs' ability to carry out their primary functions as District Attorneys," according to the court order, and Chelsea Collaborative claims such arrests "impair their members' ability to protect themselves through the state courts from unlawful actions of other individuals."

Re: The Senate's "Grand Bargain" [Immigration Debate]

what about those red states that are so into trump? as long as you have money in your pocket, who cares?

Midterms: Poorest states have Republican legislatures, and richest have Democratic ones

Eighteen of the 19 poorest states have legislatures where both chambers are Republican controlled. New Mexico (46th richest, fifth poorest) is Democratic. But there isn’t another blue or purple state until you get to purple Maine (31st richest, 20th poorest) with its “split” legislature of one party in each chamber. All the states in between (such as Tennessee and Florida) are Republican, both chambers. So is Michigan, where Republicans hold all high state offices (where Donald Trump won in 2016). Above New Mexico, you jump all the way to middle of the pack Vermont (27th richest, 24th poorest) to find a state with both legislative chambers held by Democrats
But all five richest states have both legislative chambers controlled by Democrats – Maryland, New Jersey, Hawaii, Massachusetts and Connecticut. Overall, Democrats dominate the 20 richest states.

Conventional wisdom has long proclaimed Republicans the party of the rich and Democrats the party of the poor! Forty years ago that was largely true. The poor almost everywhere elected Democrats. That is how most media portray it now.

But media are almost solely big-city based, where the conventional wisdom remains true. Democrats are the party of the urban poor – from Boston to Los Angeles. But at the grassroots level, overall, it isn’t so. Republicans, overall, own America’s low-to-no income vote. Media simply don’t report what they don’t live in and see.

This might seem academic – pure sociology – but it isn’t. It’s a central money issue.

Latinos and less-educated Californians continue to have dramatically higher poverty rates.
And the only cure according to the leftoids is unlimited immigration adding moar less educated Latinos to the labor pool. Must need to be an unhinged libberal to understand how that werks.
"The most dangerous myth is the demagoguery that business can be made to pay a larger share, thus relieving the individual. Politicians preaching this are either deliberately dishonest, or economically illiterate, and either one should scare us...
Only people pay taxes, and people pay as consumers every tax that is assessed against a business."
