    Asrock P4 Vm800

    Good morning all.
I have a local goodwill drop off box located near my home and Goodwill does not take PC's anymore becuse of enviromental issues.
So I found a PC with an Asrock p4vm800, 30gig drive, 256megs of ram, P4 2.1celeron processor and the fan.
I took the machine home & powered it up. The board turned on but no bios post & no beeps. I cleared the c-mos by removing the battery and relocating the jumpers and got the same results. I removed the memory and turned it back on and no beeps. I removed the CPU to check if any pins were damaged but they are are all intact.
I changed the power supply but to no avail.
Could the board be dead?? Anyhelp would be appreciated

Check the BIOS battery. It should read 3.3 volts. Anything under 2.85 is in need of replacement.

Is the voltage up to 3 volts? (You will need an elcheapo digital meter to check accurately.)

Pop the battery out...put probes on either side.

Well, that's not the problem. Either the CPU is dead or the mobo. If you get no beeps, it's hard to sayYou can plug it back in, power it up and measure the fan header, any voltage there?

I found the reason why I'm not getting any beeps. There is no speaker connected, the connector is soldered off. I will connect the speaker and see if I get any kind of beeps.

Speaker is broken, whom ever had this PC put his/her finger thru the speaker. It seems they were trying to take it out and ripped the connector when they were messing with it. I guess I will have to take one of my boxes, remove the speaker and connect ot to the board and test it.
