    Dual Gigabit Ethernet Ports??

    Quick question...

What would be the benefit of getting a motherboard with dual ethernet ports?

I use it for virtualization. I split the network load up between my virtual PC's by staggering which ones use which NIC.

If the PCs motherboard has two ethernet ports, then if one on-board LAN craps out then you can still use the other one. Or if you have trouble with one driver set and one won't work, then you can use the other. I noticed this on some Nvidia boards a couple years ago.

There are a couple of other benefits that come to mind.
Internet Connection Sharing - A feature in Windows which permits a PC to act as a limited router.
Port bonding - The nVIDIA 570 and 590 chipset supports usage of both ethernet ports for bandwidth aggregation or for fail-over.
