I'm up for any of them... I'd like to see a huge push by the team fo any of the projects, I think outside of SETI and possibly Rosetta, if we pushed as a team for an entire month we could make it to top 10 easily and top 5 of some.
Crunching various BOINC projects under the Swordfish username, for the PCPER Froggies.

Rieselsieve Since we are in the top 10 already, it wont take much to push us up next the top5 or better. A nice little boost to our ego before we take on some of the bigger projects.

Assuming we may be doing Riesel sieve as it has a handsome lead atm, would someone like to give some details how to add this project to boinc etc for this multiproject newbie (I've only ever crunched SETI before).

Any optimized clients for this, or is it defaults all the way?

^^ Nevermind... I figured out how to join Rieselsieve and our team

So..... when are we going to start this? Anytime now or a start date? Same thing as Ned on the clients.

I just sneaked a client onto Rieselsieve to see what it was like. In boinc, do attach project and just enter the URL:

    http://boinc.rieselsieve.com/

Then go to the website of the same name, create an account and join the team:

    http://boinc.rieselsieve.com/orig/te...php?teamid=871

I've done 1 WU so far, and I got more credit per second than with seti

They have 64-bit clients too, and state that AMD perform better than Intel

I'll be switching over either Sunday or Monday then. Seti is set to not get anymore WUs.

Don't think so. Mind you, I'm getting more credit per second with their standard apps than with my optimized seti apps. So maybe their apps are already fairly well optimized, plus they don't use the boinc benchmarks to calculate credit - they use their own formula.

    From their FAQ:

Q: How long does it take to get credit for WUs completed?
A: Depends on your computer. Generally, a 2Ghz computer needs approximately 30 minutes to complete one WU, but it may also depend on the other specifications, like hard disk throughput or memory amount.
Credit is granted at once, if the WU has a quorum of 1 (most of currently being sent have it).

Q: How are the workunits scored?
A: The work units are scored by using a formula based on three things: maximum bound of the range, the number of k's in the DAT file, and whether or not a factor is found. Factors found can increase the base score, which comes off the bound and the number of k's. This creates a static amount of credit per WU that is not affected by processing time or client benchmarks, as the amount of computation required is the same.

Because of this scoring system, "optimized" clients will not add extra credits to your score. Large amounts of credit will be requested, but the granted credit will be based on the formula
My 2GHz AMD Linux box took 86 minutes to complete a WU giving 27 credits.

We could do serious damage in Rieselsieve, Proteins, Prime Grid, Tanpaku, Spinhenge and Rectilinear Crossing with very little effort. We have very few froggies crunching those projects yet rank quite high. These projects would probably take less than a month to achieve our goal. Rosetta and Einstein are another story as are Seti, QMC and World Community Grid.

Personally, I really like the medical projects and prefer to focus the most on them, but we all have our interests!
