    Helpful write-up. Intel is on top well before AMD's Barcelona release with this Q6850.

    For me it's a toss up between Q6600 and E6750. This is coming from someone who would probably be happy even with an E4300 overclocked

    the asus p5w dh deluxe also supports the qx6850 via bios update 2206. it is a 975x chipset mobo.

    If you're going to overclock a quad core, there is the Intel Xeon X3210 (2.13ghz Kentsfield) for ~ $255

    Huh, that is interesting. My contact at Intel definitely said it was P35 only. Looks like a scare tactic to sell more chipsets...

    That or they realized the gap in their product lineup until X38 arrived is longer than expected. I know ASUS did this unofficially already, but I'm surprised none of the thousands of hardware news sites have picked up on it being somewhat official: 975X now supports 1333MHz.

    remember when they previewed the penryn processor? the demo was using a 975x chipset.
