Re: The Pond Quad Core Thread

Any idea how long per WU for a Q6600 @ stock or OCed?

An E6850 @ stock should be around 40min or a little less.

For what project? I can share the times from my QX6700 but it isn't overclocked yet...too many problems with various components until recently.

Please do... and don't forget to mention which project 'nStuff.

...of course, if you have your RAC, it doesn't matter WHICH project, does it?

    (also, how many cores crunching!)

Looks like the main thing is the the G33 chipset has onboard video and the the PK5-VM is a MATX board were as the PK5-SE uses the *ntel P35 chipset without onboard V and full form factor ATX. Few more PCI slots.

RS seems to be going at aboot 40-45 mins per core...and of course all are running! RAC probably hasn't settled out yet because I just switched over last week but this comp was the highest producer in the world when I was crunching µfluids (for µfluids).

Thus far after only 3 or 4 days it is doing 3300ish for credit on RS?

My hosts are visible for anyone to see...maybe I did my math wrong...I don't know what you guys can see of them.

Hey Fluff, this is probably the best thread you ever started!

Gave me a good reason to hit up the wifey! "Hey Honey.... Fluff is getting a quad core"!

Gotta keep up with the Jones's and stuff!

Best thing for me, the upgrade will almost be a "drop-in" and done, since the 680i is quad ready.....

may have to upgrade my power though..... But my dual core at 3.5ghz puts out 2850 RAC on seti...... so the quad will have to be cranked up!
thats why I may need the extra juice!

shoot, I'll be lucky to get a Q6600...... Barcelona would be nice, but surely a "native" quad will cost more! Not to mention, I don't have an AM2+ mainboard..... or even an AM2......

    Nice to dream though!

Question - With the new Intel 1333 FSB cpus, if I am going to run it at stock speed then all I need is DDR2 667 (PC2 5300) memory for 1:1 - correct.

    Thanks

Hey thelmores, when the Mrs says "I don't care, do whatever the heck you like", apparently that is NOT authorization for you to go ahead and build your dream rig

...so don't be making that mistake
