I've got the benchmark if you need it Fluff. I think I've got it on my server so I can post a link if you need it.

    Killer case Jim/Bob.

Well I`m almost done assembling. That 120 Ultra was a real PITA!!! Just got to install the motherboard, and do the wiring. Then hopefull it will start up with no problems.

Also, I sold one of my dual cores already. One more dual core sale, and I`m going to build another quad.

Sounds good, Me I have just have to get a new Silencer 610w psu for PC5 in October If I can afford the $135 price tag that is.

I just shut down 3 of My 5 PCs, Due to power costs($278.80) and PC5 needs a new psu as It has a failing psu that was exposed to an overclocked qx6700 cpu a few times too much.

Anyone want to buy a pair of AMD Opteron PCs? $600 will take both.

Edit: And I need to give $450 to social security, Then they won't be taking $25 out every month anymore.

Hey Joker, I just got that Silencer 610... smooth as silk, even with the overclocking on my Quad! Better yet, if you get it from PC P&C themselves, you save about $20... they've got 'em for $119.00!

I'm sorry but It would cost Me $138.49 or $3.50 dollars more then I can hopefully afford as there is shipping and sales tax to pay If I bought directly from PCP&C, Elsewhere I pay no Tax and Shipping is free and so the psu only will only cost Me $134.99 total.

    So thanks for trying Fluff.

It's ok fluff, It does get rather hard to tell the difference sometimes, As one piece of desert starts lookin like another piece.

    Real world benchmark...

The MAIN excuse I used to justify my expense in buying/building my quad-core machine was that I will be using it in my photography work, specifically, I'll be working with large image files in Photoshop.

I didn't expect the photos to come out better, but I fully expected them to come out faster!

For my test, I opened a largish (11.9 MB) file in the .cr2 format using Photoshop CS2 (I'll update to CS3 in a little while). I opened it on my old system:

    Windows XP
    AMD XP-M @ 1.98Ghz
    DDR 2 x 1GB @ 180Mhz
    etc

and it took me 61 seconds.

I opened the same file in the new computer, see specs in 'My System'... running 9 x 380Mhz for a speed of 3.51Mhz.

Less than twice the clock speed... and Photoshop can't use half of my cores. What do you think the final time needed to run the same test was?

    Spoiler!

    Okay... I'm happy now.

Well, I don't know about running it out to the Hundredths... But it is about that... This is a lot of fun; delays that I took for granted were normal just aren't there... converting from .cr2 is just a click away.

    Hooo.... man.
